Hanes Mall blvd. killed a good place to ride. Outside of the track at East Bend I dont know of anyplace near W-S where the general public can ride. Do you have friends or family living in a rural area? Sometimes the powerline right-of-ways will have trails.

We been to East Bend to watch them race but didnt know about he outside track, will have to check it out. I might know some people with a lot of land just never thought about it, will ask to see if they will let us ride on it.

There looks to be some place couple hours from here that look pretty good, I need to start looking at bikes for myself!! What do you ride?? I'm on the heavy side, 220 and 5'10. Never rode a bike before, what would you recommend?

Uwharrie has ohv trails, but they are closed until spring. There is also Brushy Mountain Motorsports in Taylorsville. There are 2 or 3 ohv areas in the mountains, but it's just more convenient to have a local place to learn basic riding skills. Once you and your son get comfortable on your bikes, there is TNT motorsports park and Carolina Adventure World just south of Charlotte in SC.

I ride an 04 CR125, my sons have an 02 CR80, 99 PW80, 89LT80. We live in NW W-S and are fortunate enough to live adjacent to a landowner that lets us ride.

I love the old Honda XR trail bikes. You might be able to find a XR250 or 350.
If you have money for a new bike, look into Yamahas full size TTR lineup or Hondas CRF-F models. They also have the WR and X trail bikes.

Since you are a beginner and your son is a beginner, you are gonna want a bike that is not bothered by put ting along w/ your son.
