Angry Jack Frost getting shutdown....

Well I was just told by my friend that is constantly at Jack Frost (Traxx), and knows the owners, that Jack Frost is getting shut down in November. It turns out they're not making enough money. Everything's being replaced w/ condos and a golf course.: :

Even though It isn't my favorite place to go, It is still a shame to see it get closed down. There really isn't a whole lot of options around here.

At least Irish Valley is still supposed to be done by Labor day.

well, now's a great opportunity to ride a golf course

seriously, that's just too bad. the owner didn't think to raise admission by like $1 or something?

Thats just what happend to a track near me. It was probably 20 minutes away, with about 7 tracks. Got closed down because of so many complaints of my city, hearing the noises of the bikes. I read that they had 100 law suits against them and then suddenly closed down. Because the city i live in is a complete bubble, filled with all rich old people, that care about stupid things.

Angry Re: Jack Frost getting shutdown....

Is this for sure - that Jack Frost is getting shutdown?? I was just on their website which does not mention it shutting down at all. Hope I get to ride it before November. If anyone has any other info I would love to hear about it.

Bummer to lose yet another riding area if true!!

I dont belive the jack frost is being "shut down" Per say. I spoke to the guy who runs it last year at the beach race in wildwood. He told me that yes they are getting moved out b/c condos will make more money, but that he was glad b/c jack frost was never the location he wanted. He informed me that he has plans to start a new track elsewhere and he wanted it to be similar to broome, with large elevation changes. Now I dont know if or when or even where this new track will be, but he seemed very serious about the fact that it will happen.

Utah Joe - thanks for the info re Jack Frost, that it encouraging. A track with natural elevation changes like Broome would be a welcome addition around here. I was bummed that I never got a chance to check out Jack Frost before it closed. Did make the trip several times from Long Island to Englishtown and that was well worth it.

Where do you do most of your riding?

Yes, plans for Jack Frost have changed since I started this thread, and we can only hope those plans changed for the better.

PA mainly. I go to paragon quite a bit and to jack frost. I also go to e-town as well. That and I normally get in about 5 races a year, 2 of which being the sand races in wildwood. They are a blast.

I noticed you are from Bangor PA, do you know a guy named Brent Bennyhoff? Amatuer #65B? He is a friend of mine and I thing he lives either in that town or right next to it.

Thanks alot - looks like a great venue. Do you run a paddle tire or is that overkill?

as far as I know you are not allowed to run a full paddle tire. I have never seen anyone using them, but I cant find an offical rule saying that you cant. I run a set of dunlop 773's, which work good for me, however I am sure there are better sand tires out there.
