Question Washougal Changes?

I got got word of changes to the Washougal MX Park. Someone told me that they totally took out the Chuck Sun table top, the Catchers Mit after the Chuck sun, the Huffman 5 after the catchers mit, and even Leeches Lump. Does anybody have any information to back this up? or is this just one of those sick rumors that goes around?

If these changes were indeed made, than I guess my riding at Washougal for Nationals, and Top Gun Team Shootout are over.

I heard a rumor that the Huffman's don't own Washougal MX Park any longer. I have NO IDEA if this is true or not, but that might explain why the track was changed, if indeed it was changed. I checked their website, and couldn't confirm or deny anything, but it does list an MX school their, taught by Ryan Huffman, so seems like it is still owned by the Huffman family.

Yeah, I did the same thing, just to make sure I wouldn't have to post a thread about it. hopefully nothing has been changed by it though.

It's true I road it a couple weeks ago yes the chuck sun catch mit etc leech even the hillsboro hoops where not back that had these two like 90 degree turns before those sections It was really wierd coming out of the S turns and seeing people standing on the what is left of the chuck sun jump watching.

The reason is that the AMA made them do this to improve acess for medical reason's probably that damn asterix thing and some crap about bette vendor access (I heard the AMA threatened them to take away the track's national status if they didn't) all they said was this was not the final version of the track and they had something in the works. It really took away the character of the track for me it really messed up the flow. There isn't another practice there for at least another month.

Wow, sounds like they really messed with it. Hopefully the owners incorporate some new stuff in place of the old, new sections are always fun.

I heard nothing about it changing ownership, all they said was they were making the changes for better medical access to the up hill area and better vendor area by the track in that one spot. It's not like that part of the track was totally gone just that everything was flattened down and filled in pretty much.

You tell 'em, Lane! Boycotting works!

I'm quite certain they will come up with something new and challenging that will give a solid thrill. Life is always changing even if it does suck. You just gotta roll with the changes.
Give 'em a chance to show you what they come up with.

Dude, I am sure they will make it just as good as it was, if not better.

Give it a chance.

Well whatever they do I hope it's good but i'm a bit of in agreement now that those parts of the track are gone at the moment it really took a bit of the track character away for me. I hope whatever they do to change it is at least as good I really liked how much speed could carry threw that area.

Well, you don't see, Changing all that out from Washougal is like taking the most valuable antique posession known to man, and smashing it to pieces, than gluing it back togeather and saying that it's just as good, if not better!

That track is historical, and this just really blows that they flattened the most important part of the track. I mean, C'mon! RC went down over Leeches last year at the nationals, and now it's not there!

RC went down in the turn before LL at red bud a couple years ago, they buldozed it, and changed the track. It happens bro and change can be good.

I understand where he's coming from cause it's been that layout for a really really long time till now. But with the way the huffman's build up stuff it should be good. What ya gonna do when you goto richland next time to find out its a whole new layout and no longer free cause it's gone to a private track now.

I rode it for the first time yesterday things I don't like about the new lay out.

#1 the flow after the s turns is lost that single jump needs be something more maybe even alittle double would be better. Flat landing off of it was way to easy.

#2 the turn right after this still sucks people are all over the place in the turn and the whole flow around it just generally sucks.

There needs to be a berm here a nice tall one like the catchers mitch there's nothing to bouch off of. You have to slow way down here now to make the corner decently. you had to square it off in order to get lined up for the table after wards and that had you lined up right on the edge of the track.

People on the inside of the corner just get cut off I can see people getting rammed into here. The other negative thing is say you went outside you had to like hook back around alitle bend to hit the table after then felt like you was ridding up the face at an angle. Like I said the flow here is off.

#3 The turn after the little double at the end of the section. Was really tight I was trying to pass someone over it on the far right inside and in mid air over the double moved over on me. I don't blame this move cause the corner after it forced ya to go inside if ya wanted any kind of good run at the hill to hit the step up.

Either this double needs to be moved back from the corner or some tree's have got to go. Even after ya come back down into the tree there is was this tight one line little s turn jog. This part of the track must become wider. Some tree's are gonna have to go for this to happen.

Overall I wasn't totally overly impressed with the changes I liked the whole step up off camber corner part but if the other sections stay the same then we got jacked in this trade off.

Talk about bring a thread back from the dead but I found out from devol that the reason the track changed was cause of that guy who own's Moto Tee's john ayers who was like in charge of it all with the AMA got them to change the track. I thought it was for supposive medical access but no it was for retrail space!!!

They have some what fixed the track this year but it still isn't quite the same maybe we can start pushing for the track to bring it back? I know i'm definetly not buying ANYTHING from moto tee's again EVER no matter how cool it is.
