It's not too bad really. Randsburg is a great ride for sure you shouldn't miss that one. Jawbone is at the bottom of the mountains going back up into the mountains so there are a few more steeper trails out of Jawbone. It is all doable, you can find the right trails to get north out of Jawbone to the Dove Springs area. Have fun let us know what you think after the ride.

have you ever been to kennedy meadows? I went a few months back and i'm not too fond of it. You have to be good with the clutch and power or you're going off the side of a cliff. Is jawbone anything like that?

Never been to Kennedy Meadows. We ride and race out near Jawbone and it's all good stuff. Some trails will work you pretty good but that is what breaks are for. It's also all based upon your trail choice too. If you choose to do hill climbs then you will have to do that. If you want flatter terrain talk your friends into going to Dove Spings or California City to stage.

i like it all. The only places i have been are el mirage, the place right at cajon pass, silverwood lake, kennedy meadows and lucerne. We go to lucerne pretty much every weekend and i think thats one of my favorites. I have only about 8 months of experience and i ride a 98 cr250. We do a lot of hills when we can find them. I think i'm gonna be forced into the jawbone but please advise if i shouldn't even bother. It sounds to me like it has it's rough parts but everywhere pretty much has those..... Also i'm new to riding and don't know very many places. i'm in buena park and don't mind a drive, i have a green sticker and spark arrestor so i'm pretty much open for nywhere. Any other places you would recommend my friends and i to check out?

~~~you mentioned you race in the jawbone area... can i get some more info on that. A buddy of mine wants to get into desert racing and doesn't have any idea on how to go about it. Thansk for all your help so far.
We have a race this weekend at Spangler Hills OHV area. This is past jawbone about 15 miles as a bird flys. It is staging out of the area called Wagon Wheel better known as "Charlies Place." You are welcome to come check tha race out or even race if you like. You can sign up for everything right there at the race. It will be like this AMA $39.00, D-37 $30.00, Race $35.00.
If he isn't in that big of a hurry have him sign up by mail it will be cheeper. Have him go here for more info [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Then have him go here and print out the forms [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Then this one [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If you want to ask any more questions just ask. Here is the flyer for this weekends National Hare & Hound race. 4 Aces Race Flyer
Jawbone is not to bad, though their can be some crazy climbs, you can go another way around it. it just depends where and how your friends ride. unless they are pro's I wouldnt worry about it. I myself like Dove springs alittle more, seems to be alittle more variety, if you know how to get around out there.
Mulisha, If you don't mind making the drive. Try out Ocotillo wells or superstition. It is desert riding with some cool stuff to see. There's Blow sand hill, Devils slide, Shell reef (cool jumps and hills), Pumpkin patch among other places to ride to. Good luck with that Jawbone thing.
I too have only been riding for about a year. I can understand where you are coming from on the Kennedy meadows comment. I had so much fun and yet made me wonder what I was doing there. Especially Rattle snake trail. Good luck and keep us posted.
i have heard about ocotillo.... i hear it is a bit of a drive as well as once you are out there it's a bit of a ride before you can do anything. I will check into all of what you listed. The area i am most curious about is elsisore. i hear there is a lot of riding out the way and just beyond fallbrook but everyone i talk to doesn't know about it....
