We stayed out on Soggy Lake this weekend. Long story short a truck rolled with 4 people in it right next to our camp. Everyone seemed ok but lots of blood. I wanted to know if there is a web site for that area. I did a google search but found nothing. There is a lot more to the story but I would rather read what was said then post it here. Thanks

we had a truck fly by our camp at about 70 mph, it then rolled about 200ft from us with 4 occupants. Driver ended up walking away (drunk), 1 male passenger had very light cuts, a female passenger had cuts on her face (not real bad but still bad), 1 other female had 2 fractures in her neck and 3 very large cuts. on her face. Helicopter attempted to land twice but couldn't. Search and rescue found the driver early the next morning. This is just a quick summary.... there are pics as well but thats later. I won't show any of the people so please don't ask, but i will post up the truck.

Thanks. Looks like another drunkfest on the dry lake. Those kids are lucky. That had disaster written all over it.

Johnson Valley is a scary place when there is a lot of people there. I will not ride there when there is a lot of people. Its just a madhouse when there is. Not to mention all the bomb craters from the Marine base on one of the lake beds (the one closest to Yucca Valley). My dad being a firefighter for the area has gone on numerous calls of people flying across that lake bed and hitting one of those craters. They dont see them coming, and wham.

I will admit though it is my favorite place to ride when there is not to many people.

This is exactly why our riding areas are getting shut down. Ocotillo Wells used to be a great place as well but its going to hell in a hand basket also. I was out at OW 6 months ago and I tell ya, I seriously feared for my life. People riding drunk, kids riding huge quads with no helmets, quad guys racing each other through our camp, people lighting everything on fire that would burn.....the list goes on and on. It was ridiculous! The public only see what the mass media shows, which is usually negative and until we start policing our own we'll suffer the Consequences. Case in point: A few months ago there was a report on CNN about OHV registration fees going up 150% in Ca. There were interviews with environmentalists explaining how we are destroying everything. No less then a second later, a video pops up with 2 guys, no helmets, drunk and doing donuts. After about 30 seconds of donuts, they start intentionally running over every bush in site, peeling out just to make sure there was nothing left. The next clip shows a guy crashing with no helmet, no boots, gloves or jersey. He was wearing flip flops, tee shirt and shorts. Anyone want to guess why insurance companies deny us coverage when we crash….DUH! The majority of you are going to speed read through this, but you better pay attention, take those stupid blinders off and wake up. Things like this will affect you in the long end. All the states follow California’s footsteps and I can guaranty land closures will be popping up left and right.
