Whats the power difference from 97 to the new ones.. My 97 was a fast *** bike and from what I remember one of the faster years for the cr250.
Thanks,

well this is my first bike so i couldnt compare it to anything. but i sure couldnt handle any more power than this thing has. this cr is fast as balls. that is about the best way i can put it. it pulls very hard in every gear.

Anyone else rode both bikes? New bike would be cool, but I loved my 97 for some reason lol

I personally would stay away from the 97's they are the first year of the new frame. I was told they did have some problems with the frame on these. As for the 98 I have one and love it. But I will also say that if you have chance to purchase newer I would do it in a heart beat. I haven't riden the new cr's but have been on several new and newer YZ's and I know they are just tighter. The older they are and the more times they have been around the track the looser they are. I am sure someone will disagree, and I am sure with every thing new they would be the same. But it takes lots of money to keep them PERFECT. As an example both of my wheels have the typical nicks, dents, dings, break rotors are worn to the replacement point, pads need replaced. Subframe is cracked and needs replaced. If you add it all up I could easily dump a grand into it. But I won't it does just fine and at 60 mph who can tell.

Anyway your call but this is just my opinion.

Good Luck

Thunder
