Default New toy in the garage!

I picked myself up a new (to me) snowmobile today- 2003 Polaris 800 RMK Vertical Escape. This model was Polaris' flagship offering for 2003, and has all the goodies such as lightweight suspension, Ryde FX shocks, lightweight seat, 159" track, electronic reverse, etc. etc. I don't have any pictures because it was dark by the time we got home, but I'll try and post some in the next day or so

Very cool! I love watching the snowmobile races, not sure what they are called but basically supercross in the snow. Get those pics up!

Snocross is really something else... they make it look so easy! I don't know what those sleds weigh (probably a lot less than a stock one) but they still can't be all that light... at least 300 pounds I'd bet and those guys throw them around like they're nothing! It's incredible to watch for sure.

Here are a few photos to drool over

Yeah, I finally found one close enough and clean enough that it was worth while going after. I took it out in the field when we got it home, I was amazed at how easy it is to move around for being so long. I can pull it over pretty easy too, probably easier than my 01! Now I just want to get it up in the hills and point it towards the top to see what it's made of! How did I know char was going to drop in here to see if there was a picture of Alyssa???

It is funny how things are a direct flipflop. Here in alaska most 4 year old sleds look well worn. my 99 does,,my son's 2000 does,,and his 2007 will by this time next year. Bikes on the other hand look new for years,,,just the difference in time we have to ride here on each one. I like Polaris machines,,,my son on the other hand would rather cross country ski than ride one.

I paid $4600 for it, which is a pretty good deal. The hood essentially is brand new because the previous owner ran an aftermarket mesh hood on it, but the rest of the sled is in excellent condition as far as I'm concerned! Granted, he cleaned it up some for selling it, but it's fairly obvious that it has been well taken care of. I take really good care of my stuff too, as anyone who has ever seen one of my bikes or sleds will tell you

Up here a 2004 would be under 4000. Closeouts on the 2006's are running in the mid 6's. No sales tax keeps our resale lower too when compared to states that have a sales tax. It would be hard to find one with that few miles on it though. Right now You can buy a 2006 Crossfire cat 700 for just over 5 with 300 miles on it,,,so you can find some low mileage ones.

I really liked the old RMK's I have had and been on.

Default How many miles?

How many miles on the Vertical Escape you just bought? Your pics look really nice. I'm getting one on Tuesday if everything checks out okay with the mechanic. Am VERY excited about the upgrade from a '96 Indy 600. -Tim

No worries! Now that Cowboy has had it for almost 2 years, he should be able to give us some ride reports!
