Unhappy heel clickers , rodeos etc

well im comfortable hitting the 60ft table at the local track now and it offers around 3 seconds of air if i hit it quick enough out of the corner.

i can do all the basic stuff like no handers where you clap behind your back and no footers etc , cept i cant get my legs to come up over the bars for the bar tricks like heel clickers.

if i swing my legs up in the air , the shin guard of the boot hits my grips and so ends my heel clicker , i took a few small .avi s from my digital camera to check my body position and at the most extended point i can see im resting on my tailbone on the seat .

i think this might be my problem as i see pictures of them where ppl are basically 2 ft above the seat while they click.

if anyone who can pull these could let me know step by step what i should be doing to land one

thanks

yea, take an inch or two off each side. With the heel clickers, the guys *** is almost over the handlebars, try going farther forward. Get over the tank. Use your arms to get your butt into the air. Ive never done one, but thats where id start.

yes they are smaller end to end. i believe FLY makes freestyle bars so you do not need to cut the ones you already have. freestyle bars are also a bit taller than most regualr bars. when you hit the end of the jump/ramp make sure you release and then blip the throttle so you go nose up, not nose down. pull yourself up and forward on teh bike. as you crest to your max height on the jump let the bike fall below you and swing your legs over the bars. the bike should do most of the work since it will be coming down. i would work on switch blades first though before doing clickers. you will learn to control the bike better. the biggest problem i have seen with clickers is people not getting back on the bike in time. thats how i landed my first time, *** on teh tank and legs over the bars. then i went front end over the bars and my bike ran me over. everyone though it was on purpose, surprise surprise, it was not. i hurt like hell too. thank god i didnt case the jump.

sorry for this but I think the bars are BIGGER!! I can be wrong but I saw a German freestyler (forgot his name) and he said it was bigger, so if they came back from a superman or a cliffhanger it was easier to grab them!! I'm not sure on this one!!!

Just watched the tape again!! The guy said his grips where longer!! SORRY, I mistaked!! It's not the bars but the grips instead!! Like this it was easier to grap the grip when they did a trick and wanted to grab it back!!! sorry for posting the other reply too quick!! Should've watched it first!!

i seen a guy doin heelclickers on his z50 pitbike...made me smile big...i can do the easier ones like kiss of death, superman, flying w`s,lazy boy on cr500...and,yeah,sometimes without meaning to...kiss of death is very easy on cr500-just don`t chop the throttle on jump face and you`re there...the whip is a little harder as there is so much gyro forces from the big motor-i have landed sideways before-best to gas it wide open when this happens...this same gyro force makes for a very stable platform...i`ll leave the crazy stuff up to you younger guys...i was chattin with John Burr, the guy who sponsors so many mx`ers...i never pass up a chance to meet someone that is so involved in moto-after watchin the carb fall off the cr125 upon hard landing-he said he was developing a carb cage to hold the carb in place...his freestyle demo team rocks!...they put on quite a show after the 1st moto`s are run at glen helen...his shop is in Fontana,Ca...he can hook up anybody who is interested with the goods-oh yeah, hope Deegan gets well soon

the tv news just said it was his femur...they`re showing it alot on the tube-seems like they`re showing it more because someone got hurt...looks like he grabbed that femur area with his hand before he even stopped sliding on the snow...too bad these guys couldn`t make a living racing motocross...the race promotor says "sorry it couldn`t be a bigger prize",as he hands out a tiny plastic trophy from the trunk of his new twin turbo Porsche

Paul, I made a post awhile back about freestyle. Back in the day, we all did the tricks, they just were not on purpose...and they hurt like hell when you landed!!:

those were the days!!...here`s a story-us oldtimers like tellin stories tryce-i`ll bet you got some good stories....when i was a young punk, there was a guy in my neighborhood -his name was Joe Rocket...this guy could hit the biggest hill around-about 100 feet high-he`d blast off the top and pancake it full lock, while throwin the peace sign-and i mean to tell you he was catchin some serious air on his Kawasaki....all the while,he was barefoot,no shirt, wearin cut off shorts and NO HELMET...don`t know whatever happened to the guy-but i suspect he`s the Joe Rocket makin protective gear for road racers...i`ve been meaning to find out...everybody knew this guy was somewhere in between being stupid and crazy-but man could he ever busta move!...this freestyle stuff is nothin new...and if motocross racing actually paid the bills-it might not have ever gotten to what it is today...couple years ago i was bustin some moves in Bali,Indonesia...the local cops don`t even bother me anymore in Kuta,Legion area...i`m good friends with the top cop and the local mafia boss...anyways,i was riding wheelies while doing the peace sign...usually,while looking backwards...standing on the seat doing a wheelie over there gets applause too-i guess i like being a showoff...kinda old stuff here-but there it is unheard of-and there are motobikes everywhere....gotta represent while away from home i wouldn`t wanna crash there though as a person has to negotiate price for medical attention or they`ll not help you-oh yeah, and the motorcycle helmets there are actually baseball batting helmets-the type they used to give away on free hat night-so thin it`s HELL rated

yeah, whatta nasty place...i drove out there just to visit JB`s shop...it seems like he is doing quite well for being located in such a run down area...but then, most of the 909 isn`t too much like paradise...i usually stay in San Bernadino, out on hospitality road or at the Motel 6...after having 5 guys try to kick my door in at the Rathole6 i prefer the other-they weren`t ready to deal with an mx er...when the Nationals are going on-the rathole6 is not so bad-met alotta nice people there and it`s much safer when the MX folks move in-theives still prowl the parking lot-but everybody watches out for each other-i really like the 909 though...so much of the industry in one area-next time i`ll be camping out at the track-i`m freezing up in seattle now-gonna move south next october-district 37 is the place to be

Default The bars don't matter......

I can do Heelclickers, and you don't need to be going fast, or travel a long distance to complete the trick. The size of your handlebars do NOT make a bit of difference. I run CR highs on my bike, but I can do 'clickers with any bar width, bend or hieght. You need a jump that throws you high. I went to some beginners ramp, and they had it set at only 45-50 ft. We needed more room to pull the big stuff, but 'clickers, disco cans, and all of your basic moves can be done at that distance, as long as you have the "pop", to get you UP.

Approach the jump standing, (you can hit the lip any way you like, throttling all the way off, or going overspeed, then "blip" the throttle off the face) As you feel the suspension compress, you mimick the bike's travel with your legs. (body english) when the bike "pops" up, you JUMP OFF the pegs, lean slightly forward, and throw your legs AROUND your arms. You MUST get your hips ABOVE your grips. once you get the "jump off" high enough, then touching your feet is really simple.
Just be careful, and don't throw your weight too far forward, or you will jump right off your bike in mid air.

It's as easy as you believe it is. NOW GO JUMP YOUR BIKES!!
(I'll try to find a good pic)

thanks paul ,

one thing tho , when you come off the pegs do you jump off in mid air after you leave the lip or do you use the pop off the lip and jump cuz when i did that it resembled something of a stork as my body flew vertical in a matter of seconds hehe.

It's a very subtle "hop". You can use the pop off the lip, or wait, and throw it later, but if you wait, you have to be on the way UP, or you'll push the bike down too far. Really, it's a FEEL. Just like riding a wheelie, once you find the spot, you're gold.
