Default 88cc kit installed

So, I've had the Honda Trail Bikes 88cc kit w/20mm carb and race cam sitting in my garage for months. I got a xr50 with a stock engine, but good suspension (i-shock, +1 lower front forks, and big bars wth tall seat) for a great price a while back and bought this kit to install in this bike. Eventually, I'm gonna swap motors with my other bike, but have to get a frame powdercoated and blah, blah, blah......but anyway I will be reselling the bike to make some money.

So, I finally planned on putting in the kit today. It took me a few hours, but I finally got her done (with a time consuming throttle cable issue). I had that feeling in my stomach when I finally decided it was time to crank her over. 1st kick, nothing.....second kick, nada.........third kick, VROOOOOOOOOOOM! The bike was purring. I took her out for a spin and the low end torque on this kit is amazing. I just took her around the block a couple of times, but wow! Everything I've heard about this kit is true.

I'll let you guys know how it goes when I actually have time to ride for a bit longer. All in all, I am on a high knowing I was able to do everything myself, and do it right the first time. TOO COOL! I feel it quite the accomplishment, being a chic and all! Now I got to start riding as good as the guys at the local track, but I still have a few months of waiting for the knee to heal.

very cool Nappers! That is very cool. Even being a guy, I would be super excited doing that as well. You're an inspiration to us all.

Seriously.

Thanks Jonathon! Those were some kind words! I know I'm not on ATM as often as I used to be, so it will be great to see everyone again in Mesquite!

How are the boys enjoying their fifty?

They are loving it. We spent 3 hours at the track yesterday with them, and my older son is really ripping it up. He wrecked a couple of times but nothing serious. He bent the snot out of the shifter, so if I can't bend it back we'll be getting him one with the spring loaded end piece.

Also, I can't wait for mesquite. It will be awesome.

Red_Scooter, good luck. It wasn't too hard, but it was time consuming (especially if it's your first time). I know I went one step at a time, really breaking it down so as to make sure I didn't forget anything or leave anything out (like a dowl in the head, or the dowl in the cam sprocket).

What kit did you get? Let me know how it goes!

Woody-that's awesome. I love to watch the kids ride. Between how great they do and the huge smile on their faces, who doesn't love to see the little tykes rip it up?!!

That is cool. Don't go hurting the knee again. Looking forward to checking it out at Mesquite. You're going to have to get you a big trailer to haul all your toys here pretty quick.

My 7 year old grandson has been riding his Honda 50 for over a year. He lives in hill country so he asked Santa for a 88cc conversion kit. Any recomendations on where to purchase and what other kits to do at the same time? I am an aircraft mechanic with shop access so I'm pretty set tool wise. Any specialty tools or books to have,. Thanks, Mike
