A while ago, Motoman and I talked about tread patterns etc, and we both wanted to see the tred of each of the tires the other had. Well, I got around to getting a pic, and thought I'd post it. This first one is my front tire. It's a Michellin M-12, and I've not used any other tire but a Pirelli MT32 or something like that, but I love this tire. I love the Bite in the corners. It really hooks up, and wears like STEEL!! I can't tell that I've even ridden with it. Still looks brand new. These next 2 are my new Kenda Millville tires (well sort of, I have 2 race Moto's and 1 time at Lake Elsinore and 1 time at my local (Tooele) track on them). So far I really like them. The edge have rounded a little, but not bad at all, which I think it's good, but now sure what other tires wear like, as I didn't pay any attention to my Pirelli. The tire its self hooks up really well on all the terrain I've used it on. They seemed to hook up just fine on the hard pack of Elsinore, and the loam/sand/hard pack of both my local tracks. The cost for me was only $40 or so. They are reversable, which is cool. One direction for hard pack, the other direction for Loam. I've got mine in the hard pack direction. Oh, and the lugs seem like they are really long...? Not sure if others are like that, but these seem to be really long. so far, for the price, this is a great tire. Hopefully soon bates will get the maxCross IT and I'll get to try it out too. since I'm too cheap for these $50-70 tires. Hopefully this helps someone.

Currently, I'm running a stock front tire (Dunlop K739?) I used to really like it... until I moved up here. On the clay soil, it doesn't seem to grip enough and leaves the front end feeling jumpy a lot. On the rear I have a Maxxis MaxxCross HT and LOVE it. Wear is EXCELLENT and traction is EXCELLENT as well. I think I'm going to try the matching front from Maxxis when I have the dough, and will be replacing my worn MaxxCross with a new one soon. I've never tried Michelins or Kenda's- too rich for my college budget. If anyone is looking for a good CHEAP intermediate to hard terrain tire, check out the Cheng Shin C755- dirt cheap and hold up really well. I'll try and get some pics of my tires soon.

Cowboy, the Kenda Line is inline price wise with the Maxxis tires. The Michellin, I got for $35 at a going out of business sale. I lucked out.

The tread on your Kenda is fairly close to that of my MaxxCross, except that my tire is nearly bald and yours isn't

I use a 756 in the front, right now I am runing a MH2 on the rear. Honestly I will most likly go back to the 756 frnt rear. The bike worked real well, I find the back spins easier with the MH2 but is predictable. The 756 was hooked up 100% until the 8th or so ride, then it just went away real quick. But that front 756 made the whole differance in the front Night and day, just like the 2000 to 2001 clutch mod I like the pics, they sure dont stay that perty for long do they

I currently have a Pirelli M18 on the front and Michelins S12 on the rear. I raced in both MotoXs and Harescrables last year and the M18 stuck like glue in both types on racing. The S12 is a good tire but the trails around here are very rocky and it seems to be chucking faster than others. Had a Maxxis IT on the rear and it worked great in everything except when there was a little bit of dew on the ground than I seemed to fish tale more than others. Cowboy – I felt like I had a new bike once I replaced the front 739 on both my 426F and 250F. It seemed to only be good on hard pack tracks.

I've had the 742 front 756 rear set up going for a few months now and I like it a lot. My new CRF came with the same set up which is a plus. Saves me a few bucks replacing the stock rubber which I would have had to do with any other bike. Great in the sand and soft terrain like Southwick.

I am using Maxxis Maxx Cross I/T front and back. My favorite tire is the Michelin Starcross MS2 Intermediate/Soft Terrain. The problem is that my YZ eats a Michelin in 10 rides and the Maxxis tires have lasted longer, cost less and hook up well.

Im using Maxxis SurCross Soft terrain tires. Honestly, It feels the exact same as a 756 rear that lasts longer and is cheaper. I Love this tire! I have beat the life out of it for the whole season, from rocks, fire roads, to wheelies down paved roads, to sand this tire rocks and wears like iron.

Nothing really new to add here. I run the 756 front and rear and they are hard to beat as far as traction. The one thing everyone knows is that they wear fast. Personally I need all the help I can get so the 756 front and rear works for me!

Here is a shot of my 756 front, it has quite a bit of riding on it and still going strong, the edges are starting to round a bit, but not too bad yet.

Here is a shot of the M12, this tire wears like Iron and has some of the largest knobs I have ever seen. I have 3 times the riding on this tire that I had on my stock Dunlop and it still has a long way to go.

Update: Just spent 2 days at www.mesquitemx.com with the M12 front and kenda Millville and they didn't change one bit. The edges remained the same and hooked up really well. The track is pretty nicely maintained though, and the dirt was pretty loamy everywhere but a couple of spots. However, there were a lot of rocks (the track is only a month old) and I didn't see any chunking which sometimes happens with rocks. So far the tire rocks for the $40 I paid.

There was an article in Dirtbike Mag a couple of months ago. They rated the s-12 as the best. I had one on the rear of the beast and it did last long. However after switching to the Maxxis IT I don't think that I will go back to the s12. This Maxxis is a good priced tire that gets great bite and long life. Just got the front to match and I havn't been out on it yet. CAN'T WAIT!!!

My bike came with Michelin Starcrosses on it, and they haven't worn any since i've had the bike. I've prolly put 12-15 hours on it. When i get new tires, i will get the starcrosses again for sure!
