D-756/Front and M-S12/Rear...it's just too bad that my riding ability can't exceed available grip.

Anyone have an opinion on Maxxis MaxxCross HT front/rear combo? I currently have the rear on my bike and I'm very happy with it, but my stock front tire (Dunlop K739FA I believe) blows chunks for traction. I'm thinking of ordering a MaxxCross front/rear package. The Michelin's are nice, but man oh man are they spendy! I'm open to suggestions here... well somewhat open

Spendy, but they are worth every penny IMO.

I was actually going to get an S-12 front but having friends like shifting...well, he "hooked me up!". Many thanks to him for that. I will definately consider the S-12 once the 756 is shot or the need for more front traction becomes apparent. Don't hold your breath for the later though... Thanks for the opinions, I appreciate them. |

Yeah, and what you said. The S & M 12 front are both really good.

IMO Michelin's are worth the price! I found the rear somewhere not long ago for like 56.99, i think anyways! Shoulda wrote that down! LOL

My bike, when I bought it in June, it had a Dunlop 490 front on it. I didn't think it was too bad, but man...I put a Kenda Millville front on there and I can even do stoppies now. The front end doesn't slide around like it used to. I will never have a bike with a 490 front on it...lol I bought a Cheng Shin 755 a few months ago, it lasted but I never really liked it. Right now I have a Kenda Trakmaster 2 rear. No complaints except for it not lasting long as the Chengy.

I forgot, but I put a Kenda Trakmaster 2 on my DR 250 and it was showing no wear at all...but then I sold it, so I don't know how long it lasted.

I have ran several diffrent tires. I personally like the Michelin S-12 Front. It sticks to everything. But the the rear S-12 I dont have much luck with. It seems to chunk bad. But I run hare scramble races. I like the Pirelli MT32 Rear. It will last me about 3 races. But I change them as soon as the rear starts to round off.

I really liked the grip and feel of the old D752's. When I was racing the HS series that was all I would run, but they didn't last long at all. My bike came with fresh 756's front and rear. I'm pretty happy with the grip but they seem to wear at least as quickly as the 742's did. I'll probably try a 952 next.
