Default Tires, Tires, Tires....

I need a new back tire for my bike. I ride all terrain so I think intermediate will be good. I have been looking at the Kenda Millsville it looks very agressive and it is resonably priced.

You can get the Kenda Millville through the ATM store too and support ATM in the process. I believe that is the tire my bro runs and I think he has been pretty happy with it.

I do indeed run the kenda Millville. However, this is not my favorite tire for the 450. It hooks up really well, BUT, I have already lost 2 knobs off the edge of the tire. The tire still has a ton of life left if the knobs hadn't ripped off.

If I had anything but a 450, this tire would be great, but I'm affraid that the torque of our beast is just too much for it.

Maxxis' MaxxCross IT is a great tire that had similar problems as the Millville in the past, but was recently updated to fix this. Bates has this tire and so far it's been great. No tearing on any of the knobs thus far.

Another tire that I ran for a complete year and quite liked was the Pirelli MT32. In the end I lost some knobs off it as well, but it took a year before that happened.

However, if you are not losing nobs off your tires now, you may have better luck then I did with the Millville. mxerhale and I both have 450's and both lose knobs pretty bad, but Bates (450 also) never does?? <shug>

So for the price give it a try and see.

Another tire to try (It's next on my list) is the Michellin S-12.

Hope that helps.

Oh and Pirelli has been added.

As stated above I have the Maxxis IT. I really like. Had it on since x-mas and no missing knobs and still holding up pretty well. I ride mx 98% of the time and most of the time it is really hard packed.

I have a 450 and don't lose knobs...: I run the Dunlop 773 front and rear. Wow! I love them. I ride everything from the dunes to hard pack with loose gravel on top and these things rock. I will buy them again.

Michelin Starcross MH2, the best tire I've ever used and it seems to outlast the dunlops I used to run.

I run the Dunlop A/T 739. Best tire I've had so far. Haven't even ripped the knobs off yet. I ride Pretty much everything too. Trails, desert, and track. Dunes also, but I have a paddle for that.

I got a maxxis I/T on the rear of my '04 YZ250F. Awesome tire, I promise you will not find a tire that wears better than this one, I promise.

IRC VE33 for the rocks and roots we ride in. Great wear, really good traction on leaf cover and light snow.
