Well we finally recieved our suspension back for the 450 and 250f, after some customs holdups. So first up i fitted the 450 and sent the boy on his way to the practice track, i drove there and took the basic screw driver etc, for making changes, i left the settings to exactly what they told us. He rode 2 laps at a fairly good pace after a sight lap, but he was overshooting a few corners. He came in as he knew i was in suspence, anyway this is what he said." I was going that fast through the braking bumps i couldn't make some of the corners, i was preparing myself for the usual hits and they just never happened." It's unbelievable! Well i was mighty relieved after all it's not a cheap exercise, and iv'e wasted a lot of hard earned on crap suspension over the years. I think we all know that good suspension will make you faster than putting your money into engine mods for Mx. Okay so what do you get for $1400 per bike. First up i'll just explain, the best suspension you can get from them is called A kit, which costs $6500. This is the exact suspension that Dungey uses, but they supply you with everything including the fork tubes because they are a different size. Secondly they told me my son was to light to run the A kit, he needed to be 25 pounds heavier minimun before they'd look at it. This is what we got for our dollars, diamond kit fork coating, which is the black coating you see on some new bikes. this is to make the fork slide smoother and reduce friction build up and in turn heat reduction, then they installed their smart valving as they call it and revalved and set up whatever it is they do inside there. And new springs for his weight. I was very happy with the way they do buisness and they rang me several times to confirm things and asked a lot more questions than most other suspension "experts " iv'e dealt with. Anyway things are looking good so far at least the rider feels more confident, and that's always a good start Last edited by pjg351; 01-25-2008 at 12:09 AM.

What would $1400 translate into USD wise? Or was that the amount in USD glad to hear it was good though. Spending money on suspension work is often times a crap shoot. One I don't think I'm willing to take on my next bike.

I priced RG3 this last summer and knew ahead of time that the cost would be the deciding factor in my case. I'm ridden bikes with several different suspension set ups and always knew it was better than stock but wasn't sure how much better. I was always curious how the RG3 stuff worked and am more than impressed with your results.

Just another update on this new suspension, today we went and practiced at a mates sand track, to try and tune it a bit more before next weekends hit out, on a notorious rough sand track. Now RG3 told me to make the rebound and the compression stiffer on both front and back when the track gets rougher as the day wears on. This is different to what i have been told in the past by other suspension people eg, make the front stiffer and the rear a lot softer, so the back shock is doing all the work and the front is in the top of the stroke! Anyway this is what i did first up today, i went for the old set up soft rear/ stiff front, bike was swapping badly under power exiting and bucking at the back under braking, (that was with soft rebound and soft compression on rear) then i changed it to more comp/r and left the rebound still soft, still misbehaving but not as bad. Then i went 2 clicks past recommended com/p and re/b ( both stiffer) and it was almost perfect! The front was also 2 clicks stiffer on com/p and rebound stayed at recommended setting. At last we have got suspension that changes with the clickers and exactly how they told me it would, we are rapt! His mate who is a Pro rode the biked and just loved it, and he was hitting everything a little bit harder. He liked it better than his own setup

That's awesome! It's not often you get suspension that actually works.
