Unhappy Rebuilt LT-50 Frustrations... Help?

Hi guys,
I've been reading all the threads regarding LT-50's, and how to hop them up to run stronger and there's a lot of awesome info in here!
With all that said, here's my problem.
A friend at our church gave me an old 1987 Suzuki LT-50 which had been sitting outside for God knows how many years. I have completely rebuilt it back to factory specs (as far as I know), it looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor, and it ran absolutely beautiful.... for about 30 minutes that is! After that, it becomes a nightmare to re-start. Durring the resurrection process I did the following things; lightly honed the cylinder head, new factory piston & rings, new factory carb, completely de-rusted the inside of the fuel tank, added a fuel filter just for extra protection, brand new factory air box, and put in the factory specified spark plug which is a new NGK BPR-4H. I'm sure it's getting fuel, it has gobs of spark, 100psi of compression, and plenty of air. What gives??? I'm beginning to think the factory spec plug is too hot. Should I try a cooler BPR-5H instead? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be going on with this thing?

I had a similar problem with an old z50. Once hot, it was hard to start etc. Let it cool and it worked fine. Turned out to be a bad stator.

Check your spark once the engine gets hot and starts causing you problems. See if it is weak.

good luck

Yea, thats kinda whats going on. Once it warms up, it gets boggy and dies. An absolute nightmare to restart until it has completely cooled down to the point of actually being cool to the touch. Thanks for the tip. I'll look at the stator. Would a cooler plug help this any?

Cool

So here we go again... lmao! I've tried a cooler plug, and it made no dofference in trying to start it. I also tried removing the primary jet restrictor, and although it may improve performance, it has not helped in getting this sucker started. I'm hoping someone will know something I don't, and step in here to help me figure this one out.
Bueler? Bueler? Anyone? Anyone?
