What exactly is a Z250?

Is that Honda's 4 wheeler?

Its a 250cc entry level quad made by Suzuki.

As for mods, you would probably be better off saving it to buy a bigger bike for when your skills progress. They do what theyre meant to do well, but do not have a whole lot of aftermarket potential.

I knew that!

I agree with Rockey, once you max out all potential on that quad, move up to a bigger quad, possibly a z400!

How fast does it go now?

If its got the power (a 250 4-stroke correct?) you might get away with just a sprocket change.
Curious as to why you are looking to increase top speed? My YFZ will get up to over 70MPH, but I NEVER feel comfortable going that fast, even when I'm racing the flats at Florence! : And THAT is at the beach with wide open spaces!

Well, the 400EX and the Z400 are both higher performance ATVs than what you've got, so its really up to you as to what you are looking for in an ATV.

I'm sure any of the three are fine for trail riding. The 400EX and the Z400 will both go over 65 MPH, as both have more power than yours, and are geared to go faster also.

Still not sure why you are worried about top speed? Most trails I have been on would not allow me to go anywhere's near top speed! :

me and my friends race each other sometimes but when im not riding on trails im riding around my neighborhood and i think theres nothing like having the wind hit your face at 55 mph on a atv when its hot out and im young so i need speed.

i went to see a 400ex and z400 in close up at the dealer and there bigger than i thought :

thanks for all the responses

I would think at 16 you could handle a 400, however the riding in the neighborhood idea makes me a little nervous. I would consider a 400 before going through the expense and hassle of modding your Z250.

and one more question which is cheaper between the two bigger ones?

i will probably go with the 400ex since im kind of a rough rider and all though

The 400EX will be a little cheaper as they started production in '99 and the Z400 didn't come out until '03.

Just a quick bit of advise..........
I'd go out and ride both first if you can. The Z400 may be a little more money, but from what I have read, it is a much better ATV.
More power, water cooled, etc.......

Just something you might want to think about before heading straight to the 400EX. I'm not saying the 400EX is bad, because it isn't. Just saying for a few dollars more, I'd hate to see you ride a Z400 later, and wind up regretting it.

IMO try out BOTH before you buy. That way, you will know for sure how both feel, handle, and the power characteristics, and ergonomics of each.

If you still decide to 400EX is the bike for you, then great! But at least you will have ALL the info necessary, and will have done the comparison yourself.
