Hi All, Brought an LT50 for kids and although they are loving it it does seem to lack a bit of power. Read through the threads on this site and have looked at both the inlet and exhaust manifold for a washer and it must have been removed. I have read about removing the 2nd jet - As a relative incompetent when it comes to this sort of thing can someone give me a step by step? Would appreciate a photo of the jet thingimajig as well if thats possible as trying to work out from the parts diagram is testing my eyesight to the max. Hope someone can help

check out [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] its not a manual but it gives a nice parts layout for just about every bike you have two jets, the "Main Jet" and the "Pilot Jet" AKA "Idle Jet" here's it put simply: the main jet provides the majority of fuel once the throttle is opened past 1/3 throttle the pilot/idle jet provides fuel while the bike is idling and under 1/3 throttle once you take off the "Fuel (or Float) Bowl" on the bottom of the carb, both jets are accessible and are easily taken out using a flat headed screwdriver, be careful when putting them back in as they are made out of soft brass and dont require really any torque....just a tiny bit of emphasis will keep them tight go to google and type in main jet and pilot or idle jet, and you will get some good pictures, if you get lost take a picture of the bottom of the carb with the float bowl off and post it on here and we will be able to give you better directions to what you need to remove ---------- Post added at 03:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:40 PM ---------- oh, i forgot, on the small kids bikes and atv's they also have throttle governers, a small screw on the backside of the throttle itself which limits how far it can be pressed in i don't know if your has it but i would definitely check to see if it does, all you have to do is unscrew it a bit and it will allow the kids to go faster

Hi, Thanks for the reply - removed the 1st jet and checked for a govenor on the throttle, looks like the screw has already ben removed. Cannot really notice any difference in power - any other suggestions as to what I could look for/do? Regards

wait...did you try running the bike without the jets, thats not good, it will allow wayyyy to much gas into the engine and it wont run, they are there for a reason where is the power lacking? in the bottom top or mid, or all over? dont forget it is just a 50cc atv so they arent very fast, they are for learning how to ride more than anything

Hi - I took out the main jet and gave it a clean, then removed the first (uppermost) of the two pilot jets. Will take baffle's out tomorrow and make sure they are not full of rubbish. Seems to be lacking power throughout but particularly bottom end - take on board your comment about learning to ride, guess the kids will grow out of it sooner than I originally planned. Any other tips would be most welcome though!!
