1986 LT50 Carb issues Got the quad for $300 and it came stock yellow with blue seat. It is for my little girl so I started to strip and paint pink. Once the body was off, I decided to pull the carb and air cleaner to do some cleaning. Before all of this, she took about 3 min to warm up then ran great. Since I tore her down for cleaning, the idle has never been correct. I've read over several posts on these carbs and cannot get a clear view on things. If you are facing the carb while installed on the quad, there are 2 screws showing.
Is it, the rear brass flat head screw is the idle screw and the front silver phillips screw is the air/fuel screw?
Tomorrow I will be getting a new plug and pulling the carb off again for another cleaning. When I get ready to start her up again, I have read that the air/fuel mixture screw should start at 1 and 1/4 turns out from being screwed all the way in, then back out 1/8 to 1/4 turn for adjustment?
What about the idle screw? Where should I have that set at?
The air cleaner is in great condition, heck the entire quad is beautiful. Looks like it was garage kept and yard ridden only since new. I am looking to make her run before Christmas because my daughter's 3rd BDay is the 26th and it's supposed to be her BDay gift. Thank you for any help, sorry for the book I wrote. |
