If you can't find a third party manual you'll have to buy a genuine Kawasaki manual from a dealer.

I bumped this over to the Kawasaki ATV forum for you, hopefully someone can help you out. Woody_YFZ may know so hopefully he'll chime in. Take some time and just sit there and study it for a while, that will help you get a good idea for what will need to be removed to pull the motor. It may be as simple as unhooking the electrical and carb and pulling the exhaust, then a few bolts and your motor is out. If it's a chain drive model you'll want to remove the chain as well. Good luck with your project!

Usflag Re: kawasaki prairie 650 help!

thanks! i did find one link for a kawasaki repair manual (by kawasaki) but it's $60 bucks. i would like a cheaper used one if possable. i can prob do the rings with the motor still on the machine. so far i removed the rear valve cover, head, cylinder and piston but i cant quite get to the rod bearings without seperating the crank case. with 6000 miles on the bearings i would like to change them. the piston and rings that i did take off look to be in real good condition. i'm thinking it may just be valve seals. the 650 twin is a nice motor but you get twice the headache lol. i tell ya whats really scaring me is the timing chain. and where the marks should be lined up. thanks again!
