Properly set up a r can be a mean woods machine. So many variables in setting up a 2 stroke. Most think that they are high reving and unforgiving. With correct jetting/pipe/porting setups they will pull hard off the bottom just like a 4stroke

I thought a TRX was a 4 wheeler. Most new high rev 4 stroke engines rev a lot higher than 2 strokes.

You are correct on both counts. What I was getting at was, most of the time people mod a 2stroke to produce power in the upper rpms, sacrificing the low end. That is really not needed if you know what you are doing with the porting. My r will pull from almost off idle and sign off at about 7800rpms, but boy it sure gets there quick lol. If I raised the port timing and used a different pipe I could probably get 8-10 more ponies out of it but it would move the powerband up and narrow it to say from 5000 to 9500 rpms. Not very usefull in a trail machine.

There is not one pro racer ever that had an r setup for upper rpms, unless you are talking tt or drag. If you can get proof of one I will believe. Its just common sense, what will turn faster times on a track, something that you have to clutch out of the corners and spin or something you can keep in a higher gear yet have the broad powerband to keep your traction.

For your information, the term "race ready" applies to many different setups. My setups on a oem cylinder for mx, I actually cut the base of the cylinder to lower port timing and widen the port drastically to get time area, allowing for a longer powerstroke and gobs of torque. Many ways to skin a cat.
