Default Overheating

I have an 05 and an 09 Honda Rincon and just returned from a trip where I had problems with both machines overheating. I kept the radiators in both machines as clean as I could but on long uphill climbs both machines had their temp gauge light up towards the top of the hill. I would have to turn them off and allow the fans to cool them down.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything that I can do to prevent the problem? None of the other machines (other brands) that were on the trip had the problem. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance

Did you ask the others what coolant they were running? Ever try Engine Ice? It might make a difference.

Look closely at the radiator. Just because they are clean on the outside doesnt mean they are. Alot off dirt can sit in all the little crevesis. If air is not flowing through the radiator, it is not cooling. Engine ice and other such products do make machines run cooler but shouldnt be used to stop them from overheating, there is an underlying problem. I have a big bore trx250r that alot of people buy big aftermarket radiators for when in fact it was the radiator being dirty or a bad cap. I only use regular antifreeze and keep my radiator sprayed out with a pressure washer, never had any issues. Worth a shot, good luck
