Talking my air box lid??

i have a 400ex and i heard that i can get a few more horse power if i took of the air box lid.... but my question is wont dirt or sand get in there and totaly mes up my engine?

also i need more power in it and dont know were to start

the sand will jump off the ground and straight into your cylinder and say

i hate hondas!!

not really. get a filter screen and it should be okay, but i would still rather have the lid. i had the lid on my 250 at silver lake and i didnt even notice a diff in power with it off vs on. also you might have your friends show you how much they love you by throwing sand all over you, and a lid really helps keep that love out of the engine.

the airbox lid only really works if you take out the exhaust plug as well.
at least thats what i hear. some people thik that the louder their bike is, the faster they can go.
