Exclamation 400 starter problem!!!

ok heres whats up, i went out to start it up thinking maybe it will start after riding a little yesterday. nope. i push it out front, put it on the charger on a boost, went to start it, notta! it sits there and spins like it is missing teeth on the fly wheel or the spline of starter shaft its self. the kid told me it was just cause it was dead and needed charged. but with a 12 volt boost, it should have started? well, no big deal to me, ill ljust get another one off e-bay and slap it on. unless.... could it be because the connectors need cleaned off the battery and to the other key areas? any ideas will be done asap!!!

thanks for help

Did you get this figured out?? I'm not sure where to get you started, but I think I would pull the cover off of the starter shaft and see if the teeth are all there and follow the gearing down to the motor. I'm not completely familiar with the 400EX, but I know with a Raptor you could do that without any major surgery.

the battery is frieded i aint to worried about it now. with the blown gaskets, there more important. my pops is going to have it fixed for me. his boss is a real good motor guy and does his own for his mini spirnt. he is also going to check with one of the top chasis builders for outlaws about powder coating my frame. i have decided to go with either a dark dark black. i am also going to paint the under side of the plastic black. not sure what it will look like but will be different thats for sure. more then likely it will come off but i plan on buying all new for next year. as long as it holds up that long instead of turning into a race project, it is turning into a look good for the race project LMAO i am starting to strip everything off and paint it. should look decent when done. thats why i havent been on much. been laying out stuff so i know how it goes back together, wow, time consuming!!! more to come later thanks for ideas woody! ill have them take a look when the motor goes in.
