If you were born in 1910 like your profile states, I wouldn't think you were too young:

As long as the bikes are all running good, then I'd say it's peaceful.

i wouldnt suggest shifting without the clutch either i went threw a coulple of clutch baskets doing that and on the perdator i would wait a yr or two to buy 1 like on the raptor when they hit the dealer a moth or two later there was a gaggle of them in the traders guide so that pushed me away from them knowing ppl werent happy with them

Unless you paid extra for the reservoirs, I don't think they have a whole lot of adjustment.

this is a old thread...but since i just got a new predator, thought i would respond.the rear shock is both rebound and compression adjustable.the bottom clicker ring on the shock is the rebound adjuster, and the numbered knob on the resevior at the top is the compression.both front and rear shocks use threaded preload adjusters......only a compression adjuster comes with the add on resevoirs for the fox shocks.i may try these myself later on .....when/if i can ever get back on a decent budget again, lol.

Hey, welcome to the site. I haven't ridden the Predator, but I've seen people doing wheelies on them, so I wouldn't think it would be much of a problem.

3rd gear is a good wheelie gear on the predator.
it will pull the front up pretty easily to clear stuff (mudholes, trees, etc.)on the trail at any speed/gear though.i don't think it's as easy to ride a wheelie on as a 400ex,but it has a pretty smooth power delivery,so that helps to control it when you do have the front up.

The 04 Predator has a 1" shorter swingarm than the 03 Predator. They shortened it up because a lot of riders said the front end was not as easy to raise as they would like it to. I think there is a lot of people back east (Polaris' biggest market)that use them as a trail machine. I've got an 03 and do a lot of dune riding. I like the front end to stick more. No fun going over a razer back on an angle with your front end pointed at the heavens. That and the wider stance is why I like the Predator over my 440ex in the dunes. Like all the new era four strokes, the Predator has plenty power to wheeley if you want to.

The local dealer is advertising 04 Predators for $4,799 plus the usual sales tax and $20 document fees. Hell of a price. I think it is the best BUY for a sports quad out there, especially if your not an all out racer. I would guess the 05 will not change much, if at all. Might be worth looking into. Could save you $1,000 that would buy all the hop up goodies you will eventually want.

On another note, I finally bit the bullet and got a CFM aluminum airbox for the Predator. I've modified the stock one to death and added a K&N drop in filter. The lid holds the drop in filter in place so you cannot remove it. Still could not get the airflow I wanted. The CFM comes setup for dual 2 1/2" by 5" pod filters. You can run the lid on with the opening on each side of it, open the lid up more or run without it. I purchase the K&N's with outerwear and will run at the dunes without the lid. You can also get the outerwear lid for it. Anyway, a great improvement. I went from a 150 stock main jet to a 160 with the airbox mods. Any more an it ran too rich. Dropped the needle clip a notch and bumped the pilot jet up to a 50 and opened the fuel screw 1/2 turn. I have gone up to a 180 with the new airbox and it is still a bit lean. I ordered jets on up to 200 I'm going to mess with them and the needle this weekend. The stock drop in filter airbox is the only grip I have with the Predator. It begs for more air. Also, the CFM airbox is a work of art (and a bit pricey). Fit and finish (no mods needed) are great.

Wrong again! Got my Dirtwheels over the weekend. Had an article in it about the 05 Predator and they added a reverse gear, went with softer shocks, twinked the seat a little and added several new fender colors. Looks like they are going after the open class trail quad market a little harder. They tightend up and lowered the transmission gear ratios, increased the rev limit, added radial tires and put fully adjustable reservior shocks on the front of the Troy Lee designed Predator for those that want to moto cross race it. With these kinds of upgrades (especially the reverse gear ) the left over 04 models would be tuff to move without big discounts.

I'd give Polaris a lot of credit. They've come a long way in a few short years. They're not just sitting back. Also, their utility quads are outstanding. They're at a higher level.

I have a '01 Polaris Scambler 90 kids quad. I think Polaris makes the absolute best kids quads. Electric start, full foot rests, heat shields. No one has been burned by the exhaust or had a foot injury.
