Default Looking for info on scrambler and sport

I really know nothing about these bikes, other than they are less money than others around here. I am looking for one for my wife, who has only ridden a 25EX one time. But I also want one I can have fun on sometimes too.
Scrambler:
Is it fourstroke?
Only 500, or are there other sizes?
Are they all 4x4? I do like the idea of it being 4x4. Is it full time?

Sport:
Are they all 400s?
2 stroke or 4?
2x4 or 4x4?

Any opinions and info would be great. Especially on reliability, comfort, power, etc.
Thanks a lot!

The scrambler is only available in the 500 you are able to shift between 4x4 and 4x2 if youare wanting to look at another good beginner fourwheeler look at the trail boss both are good machines and fun to play around on

That's odd...I guy I used to work with had two Scramblers, both 400cc 2-strokes, one 4x4 and the other 2wd. The 4x4 was engaged with a pushbutton on the right side handlebar. Engagement was quick and seemless unless chain tension had been over looked. Top ends lasted a good long time with proper attention to preventative maintainance and the use of a good oil. The 4x4 was piped, clutched, ported, milled head, reeds, etc. and screamed. The 2wd enjoyed the same treatment after his wife kept wanting to ride the "fast one". The 500 Scrammies are 4-stroke and they do make a smaller, 250cc 2-stroke 2wd called the Trailblazer.

Really. I've ridden half a dozen 2-stroke, 400cc, 4x4 Scramblers. They might not be making them anymore but they have been produced. You are right about a 4-stroke not having reeds, they have intake valves instead.

They made a 400 and a 500 Scrambler and I know that for a fact as I've ridden them both. The 400 is a two stroke and the 500 is a four stroke.

Default Thanks guys!

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like the 500 might be what I'm looking for. I would like the 4x4 option, and I like being able to select 2 or 4x4. Also like it being fourstroke. They can take more abuse, like lugging, than a two stroke. Probably use less gas, too. I know there are probably better bikes, but like I said, these seem to be the closest to my budget. So far, no one has given any real big reasons to not get one.

It's a Polaris. : J/K, I've had experience with the 2srtk 400 Scrammies, 300 2strk Xplorer, 425 4strk Magnum, Sportsman 700 (4 strk), and the 250 2strk Trailboss. All seem to be good quads but sometimes need a little extra attention due to the mass amounts of moving mechanical parts, mostly clutch/drive assemblies. Motors are pretty reliable if taken care of, make decent power and respond well to mods (mostly the 2strks). Most all of them are HEAVY, again due to the added weight of the clutch/drive system. Good luck.
