Default 1700 miles and belt shredded?

So I was riding out and heard something metallic explode on my 570 2 up. not sure if it was my belt or not havent checked but im pretty sure its my belt! is this common at such an early stage for belts? 1700 miles!?

ATV is stock and I ride on dirt roads. (at least I hope it was the belt)

That definitely sounds like a low mile machine. I am curious to hear what you find out!

Belt life depends on a lot of things, at 1700 miles I wouldn't be surprised if it finally gave up on life. If you're riding 2 up, the extra weight is going to put extra strain on the belt as well so keep that in mind. This is why it's a good idea to always carry a spare and be sure you know how to change it on the side of the trail. Some CVT systems you can open up the secondary with your hands by spinning the sliding sheave and pulling on the belt to get it off, others you need a tool to open up the secondary.

You say it's a 570 2-up. I must assume its a Polaris 570 Touring edition.

My first question is this, did you read the owner's manual and follow the break in procedure for the Polaris drive belt for your machine?

I know people who've bought Polaris machines, didn't follow break in procedure, and tear a belt apart within 50 miles... Trust me, break the belt in proper and it will last you a lot longer. Also, don't buy those inexpensive aftermarket drive belts, sure they save you money in the short term, but they don't last nearly as long as a properly broken in Polaris drive belt.
