I went to costco today and they have a quad there. Now I know what you all would say to that but listen. This thing is sick. Now Mikie is out riding his suspention on the meerkat. And I have been looking for the next thing. Now I did not want to spend 17-2000 on a name brand when all of them require much mods to be race ready. Ok so here it is. The quad at costco is 1100 it is a 125 4stroke and is man. clutch. semi. adj suspention, and just all around looking good. To go into more detail. 1) the rear axle is thicker than my lonestar axle 2) the a-arms are camber/caster adj. and WIDE 3) the response on the shocks is better than mine 4) anti vibe stearing stem 5) mikie can touch and work all controls 6)steelbraided brake lines 7)maxxis razor style tires 8)hyd. front disc, cable rear disc Ok here is a link to the web addy that was on the quad but the only thing i can find is assembly instuctions [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] also nerfs Now please go into this with a open mind as I can not afford the good stuff.

I went to their web site and don't see a 125cc quad. All I saw was a 90cc and 150cc.

Do you know if it's made in China? or Taiwan? I bought a kids quad made in China and it's one of the worst purchases I've made. Things started falling apart and breaking on the first ride. I had to rebuild the engine within the first year. It's a 110cc 4 stroke styled after the raptor. From what I've seen, the ones made in Taiwan are better. I managed to find parts for it, but it took awhile. Most of these engines are Honda knock-offs from the old Trail 90's or three wheelers. Problem is that they don't stick to the same specs all the time. The piston size on mine was not the same as any of the Honda's. I bought mine a few years back when they first started hitting the market, so the quality might have improved since then. That being said, that BAJA looks pretty cool with the dual arms and wider stance.. I still wouldn't touch it myself though.

First off! THANK YOU for all the input. My mother is possibly going to be purchaser. So I sure as Heck don't want something to hurt Mikie, or for it to fall apart in 2 days. "sorry MA" " You wasted $1100" OR WORSE! Ok Khen: Those a-arms have Heim joints and are fully adj. cam./caster Has anyone seen one at Costco? I've looked at it 3 times now. And they are starting to look at me now. I fliped it up on end today:shug I can't find any good reason not to buy. Mikie will never get out of 1st on a 125. Plus it will take 2mo. to brake it in,as far as I will have the throttle limiter screw in! I don't want him going faster than he is right now. It is time for him to learn clutch. Plus it has like 4-6" travel front 5-7"back I don't know,I like it! Last edited by ekholms-mx-farm; 09-13-2006 at 08:52 PM. |

Just a quick Q (perhaps you've already said, but I missed it). Why not an LT 80?? They are 1) Built well 2) hold their value well 3) are easy to get parts for 4) are relatively inexpensive (about 2 grand, or LESS for a nice used one) 5) can easily be sold for not much less than purchased for (if you get a good deal on one) I know you say you can't afford a more expensive one, but you need to look down the road in the LONG run. Which is actually cheaper in the LONG run??? Personally, I'd stick with the Zuk, but thats just me. I know they are built well, can be upgraded if necessary, and can be sold at a later date (sometimes years later) for only a few hundred dollars less than what you paid for it. Just something to think about.

If I were you .....Id take mom's money, use the next few months to save up some additional funds and next spring I would buy the real thing. Dont rush into a purchase you will likely regret just because you have some money burning a hole in your pocket. As someone else stated, what about parts for this thing? Whats the tranny like, the motor internals? Adjustable A-arms and beefy wide axles are cool but that wont matter much to your son if you to have to wait 6 monts for engine parts.

Get a used suzkui lt80, mini raptor, or trx90. Those are good bikes and you know you can get parts for them, at a resonable price too. You can probably find any of those used for cheaper than 1100.

The eTon and Kasea's are both supposed to be decent kids quads as well. Both are popular platforms for racing(in addition to the LT, TRX and Cobra). I believe they are both made in Taiwan. I agree though, I wish I would have looked for a used LT or TRX rather than buying my sons. After paying $1000+ dollars and putting countless hours into it, I feel like I would be ripping someone off if I was to sell it for $100.. talk about depreciation.

Well I truely do appretiate the opinions. I just keep seeing this thing.Knowing that mikie has out grown his 50,the cost of making a lt80 race worthy, and the chance you take buying anything used. In know way am I putting the lt80 or any of the other "name brand"(H,K,S,Y,P) down. They just have not built a "race ready" kids quad. All require major sus. work. My wifes nefew has 02 lt80 and it is unstable, and unsafe in rough terain. I consider Tyler (the opperator) to be fairly good for his experience, and he has been hurt buy the bike more than once. Do to lack of sus. travel. It is only these small companies(like cobra)that are doing this stuff. Take a look and tell me if you still feel the same. I would still appretiate negitive reports! He fits pretty good with room to grow /with better motor. ![]() Lets see? steel braided lines, rear hyd disc, approx 4-6" wider than anything I've seen from the big guys. ect. ![]() This one I think speeks for it's self. ![]() ![]() ![]() External oilcooler. ![]() Kick and Elec.

It shows nice that's for sure.. If it performs as well as it shows would be the question. I doubt that it'll compete with the Cobra, but then again the Cobra is $7-$8K. If you do pick it up, the best advice I can offer is to remove all the bolts holding the plastic, arms, motor mounts, etc and thread lock them. If the bolts are the same grade as mine were, I'd probably replace them right off the bat. If you don't replace them make sure not to torque them to tight, they shear and strip really easily. Given the features/price, it would be tempting to pick up for sure.. I just wouldn't put to high of expectations on it.
