Well we have rode the 450 gasgas three times since we have gotten it and let me just say this it spends more time in the shop then it does on the dirt. the frist ride we went on came back and putt them in the trailer and i went in the tralier the next day thought there was gas on the floor turns out it was oil the whole bottom plate was covered in oil. went to the shop they said they fixed it went and rode out at the dunes an hour an half drive and rode for 30min and came back was talking and i looked over at the gasgas and what was that more oil but on the other side i was like no way well took it back and they said they fixed it and they made a new gasket for it. sure to slove the problem. went out on sunday to ride went and rode came back david looked at the bike and what was that oil agian not happy i have now taking it back to the shop and they ok we put to much oil in it sorry and we will go ahead and change the oil in as well this time. what this time you mean to tell me you havent change the oil yet they said no you have to have 5 hours on it and you only have like maybe 3 of actuall ride time wth i cant believe this and so now the gas gas sits at the shop and i hope to have it for the weekend that we go to utah well a little upset about this whole deal i need to call and see the progress on this piece of crap.l

Well around our neck of the woods, the GASGAS has the same high standards as KTM. In fact, their KTM's closest competitors.

could it be that the shop does nothing at all??? don't think that your shop is a magical bike fixer. no shop is. you'd do better checking out whats wrong with it by yourself at home.

A new bike should not have the problems described here. |

Every manufacturer is going to have some "lemons" come off the line--no matter how reputable and proven the line. If I was having problems from the get-go, I would follow some of the advice in this thread and bring it to the attention of the dealer or district rep. I have heard very good stories, similiar in circumstances, where KTM has stood by their product.

maybe you should call it an "oil oil".

Pfft...you have an oil leak problem and now it's a piece of crap? There are a lot worse things that can happen. I would put the blame on the dealership for every time you had to bring it back after the first "fix".

If the dealership overfilled it, it does have a crank over flow I believe and could cause oil to spill out. As far as oil changes, I don't change mine until after at least 12 hours on it, as per Yamaha's recommendations. Be patient the bugs will get worked out, but I don't blame you, it would suck to not know for sure if your bike was going to be working or not.

well its brand new got it stright from spain the people that are working on the quad are the dealers here in NV we get back today and we are going ridding after work so i will know if i am getting a brand new YFZ today or not i have talked to them about the lemon law already just for the record i am not blaming gasgas but i am upset about the fact of its a brand new bike and on top of that i waited a month for it to get here from spain and now that i have it i could only ride for 30 min each time before it has to go back to the shop for these little problems. i know that i could empty the oil myself and what not but it free for them to do so thats why they are doing it i will have a update on if it is fixed or if i am getting a new YFZ

I think that you are right not to start tearing into a brand new machine. Especially if you want to have any leverage on getting something replaced. You let them do the work for now and then they can't blame you for tinkering with something you shouldn't have after practically no ride time.
