Talking Best quad for little guys

I have a buddy at work that is looking into getting some quads. I am still trying to convince him he wants motorcycles but the quads may win. Anyway what do you guys reccomend as far as quads for kids between5-10 years old. Something without a clutch would be preferred and also something that is bulletproof. He doesnt want to work on them, he just wants to go ride with his boys.

Thanks
Bates

Long time no see there Bates!
Good to have you back!

My vote goes for the Suzuki LT80.
Bulletproof, and I don't believe there is a manual clutch on them.

I know there are others out there, but these little buggers seem almost indestructable, and hold their value well.

Oh, and you should know that quads will ALWAYS win out....

I will second that whole post (Except that silly little last sentance : ) the LT 80 is a GREAT quad and they are as 2fun put it darn near indestructable.

Oh man, that hurt.....
That REALLY hurt......

Anyways, back to the topic, looks like we have two in agreement (at least on the LT 80 thing) so far.

Only thing I might be concerned about is how big the 5 year old is...the LT80 might be a bit much for them? Other than that....oughta run forever.

Ok thanks.

I still vote for the LT though as it is also cheaper than the Honda, but I'm not knocking Honda, they are great quads/bikes.
I just think price wise, and aftermarked wise, they are a better choice.
Also the Suzuki doesn't have to be shifted (its a fully automatic) whereas the Honda still has to be shifted (which would be good for a kid to learn also).

I believe the throttle can be turned down, and the 80 would also allow a few years of growth before having to move on to a bigger quad.

what about the lt 50. I think the 80 may be a little too big for the boys at 7 and 6 years. Is the lt 50 better than the raptor 50?

I have a nephew that has a Honda 80 and a niece with a Yamaha 80 (manual clutch). I have a Polaris 90. I too was in a similar situation a few years ago. I forgot some of the specifics but no one has mentioned electric start. Most kids can't kick that hard and unless you are looking forward to running across the track I would take that into account. You need to look at the Polaris Predator 90's. It has electric start, full length foot guards, automatic transmission and heat shields to protect against the hot pipe. Just, they're not cheap so make sure you look at all of them.

I wouldn't think that the 80 is that much bigger than the 50, but the 80 would allow them to have longer use out of it.
I think they'd grow out of the 50 pretty quick!

I don't think the 80 is too big for a 7 yr old IMO.

Don't know about the comparison between the Raptor and LT.

I believe there is a fair price difference is there not?

I know around here, one can get a brand new lt80 for 2100-2200 bucks.

Dude, my kid weighs 65 pounds and is way too big for the 50. The 90 is perfect for him. The stickers say no one under 14. It should read no one over 14. As far as the 50's, just go buy one of those power wheels quads they sell at WalMart for $100.

That reminds me, my cousin just bought his son a Yamaha 50. He got it home and he thought something was wrong with it. He took it back and they said,"It's fine, that's as fast as it goes." My cousin errupted. "What, I paid $2000 for that thing! I could have went to WalMart and got a battery operated Power Wheels quad. I want my money back." "We can't do that sir, you already purchased it. We can give you credit for the Yamaha 80" "Fine then, I'll take the 80." His boy just started Kindergarten last week and weighs maybe 40-50 lbs. So if you want to try out a 50, remember that story. They're basically, gas powered toys.
