Lots of guys tell me there only real problem was when switching from a bike to quad, was that whenever they cornered they would slam there foot down and hurt themselves because when riding a bike that becomes second nature. Howvwer riding a quad is alot easier. U never have to put ur feet down, u never have to be afraid or loose garv el and parts that would have made u slow down on a bike. Just remember when doing a turn really fast and if its sharp really lean to the side ur turning. If the left side lifts of the ground an inch or 2 thats fine ive even had it come of a foot and 2 wheeled corners. If u learn the balance point and learn how the power hits it should be real easy. Also a big differnece u will notice u will have to pick ur line more than a bike because the quad is like two, two wheelers side buy side. Whatver u hit on the one side affects the other. Also just remmeber when going through trees whatch ur fron tires when going fast, always be awhere of how wide u are, If one tire catches ur gonna have broken wrists and smash ur head into something. Also know the terrian such key factors such as turning on gravel and leaning will not be enough on more hard back or even grass for that matter. On that type of ground its harder to drift and it could grip and roll u.

Just remmeber to have fun too! Quads are very fun and easy once u getr the hang of it. Too compare the power of a 400ex, all i can say is this, i raced my brother on hard pact on a 125 and he had a z400. By sixth gear i was about 7-8 lenghs ahead. We are nearly same size and we did it about 40 times with the same results. And this may help u know how much power a 400ex has because unmodded z400s and 400exs in a race the z400 will win by around 3-4 lengths. Hope that helps.

Yeah i no it isnt a power house. My bike is WAY faster. But if im going slow im WAY safer Thank god this quad has rollbar pegs, or i would have ran my feet over like 100 times!

Oh, thats a pretty sweet mayonaise colored riden jersey I got one of dem!

I had a few racing quads a while ago, the best thing I did to make the transition from a bike to a quad easier was installing a bike throttle on my quads. Made it one hellava lot easier...

forget the ex and go for a z400, you can find a good used one around thats hardly been riden. Iv'e ridden both and glad we have the Z Its my wifes bike plain stock with nerf bars and way faster than the ex better stock suspension as well. My brother has a kfx400 and gives it a good beating all the time, never had a problem since new.

Well it looks like you are getting some advise now. Accept for ridding without a shirt.

The two big differances from bike to quad are. On a bike you do body position as you go through the corner and on a quad you do body position precorner. Also on a bike you stand up more than on a quad. Now don't get the last part wrong. If you are going fast on a quad you don't want your full body weight on the seat. You kind of want to barely lift you hinney.

Oh and. Yes get +2-4 axle,Yes get +2 a-arms if you can. Also a stearing stablizer is a nice addition.

Can you get some pics of the EX?

oops almost forgot. HANDS TIGHT!!! ARMS LOOSE!!!

It does look alittle beat! But how does it idle, rev, and how does the oil look?

Other than that I would say try $1000 instead of $1200. But it may be worth the $1200.

I see it has GOOD nerfs!

Oh and one other thing. I started on bikes and I found that using a twist throttle like dbc said works good for me. I had a tendancy to over throttle w/ thumb and I always got cramps in my hand w/ thumb throttle.

After i get the motor squared away twist throttle is on my to do list for sure . Ive rode a 330 with one and it made me so much more comfortable it was kool. I changed oil. It had sat a long time like two years so its hard sayn. It has had two owners. the 1rst beat it and the second never rode it. I talked to the first one the other day and he said he thought the shifting fork was goen outwhen he sold it. Idles good. Revs good. Top end seems plush.
