Yeah the cost of the port and polish is such a huge investment when I cannot know for sure I will notice any real performance differnts with or without it.

I am going to have them bore it 102MM over with a JE 12:1 Piston, install the new valve springs and hot cam 2. What else is there to do inside of the motor that wouldn't cost a fortune besides the rod as that would require a complete teardown of the motor.

I'm sure with the current items I have on it + a cam + big bore + race fuel it will hall some major booty. I'm also droping a tooth on the front.

HA, I'd hold off on dropping the tooth on the front, as that's a huge drop, and with those motor mods you need to ride it first. I'm sure it will have plenty of Umph for you.

What do you think about doing all the mods minus the Port and Polish. My wife won't go for that. :zap

The port and polish is expensive. I don't know how much of an improvement they make, as I've never had a port and polish done. I'm calling on your parts right now.

Okay:

Piston $125
Connecting Rod $109 (Would take up to two weeks to get here, as it's not in stock)
Gasket kit $45

Give me the word and I'll get them ordered. The piston and gasket kit that are in stock would be here in 2 days, so if I ordered them today, they would be here on Monday. How soon would they be able to get to working on your quad?

I need the Piston and the Gasket kit. Also, they mentioned there was some other gastkets that you need to replace along with the +2MM gasket kit.

I'm not doing a full tear down of the motor to replace the rod so i'll skip it until I need to.

How do I need to pay for them.

They are a week out around the valley just to tear the top part of the motor apart. I won't even have my Cam until tomarrow. So Monday is fine as it will take them a week to tear it down then it will take Linds another week to do the valves and stuff. Find out how much a set of new intake valves would cost. I think my motor has 5 of them.

That piston is 12:1 so I will be required to run race fuel then? 115 Octane?

It depends. If your motor knocks, then yes, if it doesn't no.

My CRF has an 11.5:1 and the new CRF's have 12:1 and don't require race gas. But it's all luck of the draw. Some engines need it, others don't.

So it is sort of a wait and see type thing. I wonder if I should really just get rid of the dynoJet's and go back to GYTR or Mukuni standard jets and needles.

You have 5 intake and exhaust valves total. I believe 2 intake and 3 exhaust. I can get Kibblewhite valves I believe. I know the hotcams recommends new springs. Do you want more than just the springs?

I've got the Kibblewhite Titanium valve spring kit here with me it just came in the mail I paid 142 for it. Linds shop told me they might recomend relpacing the actual valve intakes not just the springs.

I can worry about that a little later but for now I need the piston and gasket set

Well, looks like I'll be putting the kibblewhite spring kit up on Ebay then. My mistake. I ordered your piston today and it will be here Monday, unfortunately the gasket kit was out of stock, so I couldn't get that. I can't get valves.

Since your going to the 686 when you do get new valves go for bigger valves instead of just replacing the stockers.

There's a set available from Duncan. Look for "Big Valve Kit" on that page.

Google for "raptor oversized valves".
