I believe you can actually buy the 686 kit prepackaged and just have a machine shop do the boring or whatever is needed.

Okay, after doing a little research, it looks like a 686 kit is .080 over stock. Then you have to choose what compression you want on top of that. It looks like 12.5:1 and 12:1 are common ones. In my studies CP seems to be the best (also the most expensive). Wiseco and JE are some other good, less expensive ones. I just became a dealer for JE and can find out a price for you if interested. I also have connections down at Lindsay machinery, as I used to have them do all of my work when I owned Willy's Wheels on state street. If you're interested I can give them a call down there and see what they do for a 686 kit down there and see what he recommends. Let me know.

Craycraft makes a 686 kit, Sparks makes a 690 kit, but I guess the wait is forever, so if you're willing to shell out the bucks and let your Raptor sit for about a year, then that's the way to go. You still have the Honda to ride right?

Yes!!!!!!! of course I want you're help. I have enough to basicly do whatever you all recommend. I would prefer Wiesco but JE would be okay depending on what is better quality. I wonder what the cost involved would be to have it done along with my new valves.

I don't really care to have a "kit" or whatever. Basicly I have the new Hot Cam2 and those new 150 dollar valve springs. Bascily I want to go with what I can get in a prettty fast matter. The .50 they have at Rockymountain; however, I am also willing to obtain the piston from Dennis Kirk I think they have some also. Would I need a sleeve to put a bigger piston in like I'm wanting to.

With the current setup + a port and polish and new hot cam 2 + new piston setup it will prob be a lot faster?

BTW i'm impatient. I need to take it to st.george over 4th of july weekend.

Also,

I'm having second thoughts about running the dynojet kit in that raptor after all of this work being done. I wonder if i should just go to GYTR jets or plan old mukuni or whatever.

I personally don't care for the dynojets because there is no frame of reference with them, as most people don't use them, however they seem to work okay once you figure it out.
When you're ready for an Edelbrock carb, I can get you a screamin' deal on that too. I personally would just call Lindsays and see what they say.

I started reading about this sparks 690 that suppost to be just faster than hell. Those things are little over my budget. I just wanted to make mine a bit better than what everyone else is running. Basicly I don't watn to spend thousands of dollars maybe 600 or something. I just figured if it was in for a port/polish might as well have them do the bigger piston. What would .50 do compared to my stock motor?

I would imagine it would wake it up quite a bit. I know just a higher compression piston will wake it up quite a bit.
I just picked up a new distributor (yesterday, Advantage performance) and am going through their catalog online as we speak. I can get all kinds of good stuff, so if you ever need any bolt on stuff, I sell it for very little mark up. I also discovered a 510 kit for your TRX. Let me know when you're ready for that. I believe I could get it to you for around your $600 price range, but not sure yet what my cost is. They retail for $820. Sorry to keep throwing this stuff in. Just letting you know about all that neat stuff that you can spend your hard earned money on. I can also get vertex pistons.

Okay,

I've started really reading into it. Basicly the raptor is at 100MM stock. The 686 kits are all 102 MM. They require a bore/hone. I've alrady got my cam and my new titanium valve springs and collets and such that cost me 150 dollars.

So i wonder if i should just find myself a 102MM piston kit they run 150-200 dollars?

I would imagine that would work. I can get you a JE piston (102mm bore) for $129. You would then have to choose if you want 10.75:1 compression or 12:1 compression. A 101mm bore would put you at 673cc which is also an option if you don't want to go that big.

That is a JE piston also, I wonder what "special" stuff they did for Alba to make it $100 more?

how long would it take you to get the JE 102MM 12:1 what kinda fuel would I need for that. Also, I'm going to be using my stock carbs!!!!!

Ball Park what do you think it would cost me to have them polish/port/bore/hone?

I've already got the nice cam and valve springs so i'm set there.

Does yours come with the same things. All the parts for the piston what Dennis Kirk calls a "kit" rings, pins ect.

I really think I want to go with 102MM that would give me 686cc wouldn't it?

Yes, the 102mm is the 686 kit. This is what I'm looking at to get my info.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Obviously those are retail prices listed. I can have the stuff here in two days (assuming it's all in stock) and yes, the kit includes the rings, wrist pin, etc. and I believe you will have to run higher octane fuel (100 octane?). That also depends on what compression you want. My bro has the 10.75:1 in his Raptor and still runs premium and it's fine.

So it is settled 102MM 12:1 I would run 105 Octane anyways on it. Now my only question is what would they charge to set my motor up for this bigger piston

Yeah I would take that 102MM 12:1 I wonder if I would need a better connecting rod? would this require a new head gasket and such? I was thinking of paying South Valley to take it apart as they only wanted 105 dollars to take it apart they would only do it if it is done right though by new valve springs and being sent in for the correct work.
