In our regional races no one on a 150R has any advantage of any of the 85's including the CR's from 07 and back. Maybe you should try to find a lightly used CR or a new KTM. I'm not trying to be sarcastic just practical.

You might consider having some kibblewhite valves put in. They will probably last longer. The downside is that they will most likely cost more.

I've seen 85cc 2 strokes smoke your 150F Honda at the track. A two stroke makes way different power and in half the displacement of a 4 stroke. It probably has better suspension than your Honda does and a much different frame design. You probably aren't big enough for a 250F are you? Tell your mom that she would save alot of money every year if she bought the 2 strokes until you can ride a 250F. There is alot of benefits to riding a 2 stroke than a 4 at a younger age too.

The 85's do scream, but it's not gonna beat your R. The F yes, but not the R. That's a very different monster there. I'd take a look at how your keeping up on oil changes and air filters cleanings, also are you riding off the rev all the time? There are pros and cons to 2's and 4's. If your keeping up on everything, maybe you just have a lemon on your hands.

Im not hardly ever on the rev limiter i stretch the gears out tho but, I think the kid before me didnt know how to ride a thumper and was on the rev limiter all the time? But they said he didnt ride it hardly any, but to be honest idk. The guy that owns litz racing in TN told me that i could run Rotela T, but i have switched around from bel-ray, factory honda, to that rotela oil and to tell u the truth i think that right there is what ate up the valves what do u guys think? And plus I hadnt changed that rotela T in like 30 hours so i think it was my own screw up but i cleaned and re-oiled the filter with maxima filter oil like every two rides...I'm buying a hour meter. I think it might be best after 25 hours or so, to take the head off and clean it all out? Maybe this will keep these problems from occuring and checking the valves every 15 hours? In all honesty, 100 hours on a 150 and needing a valve job is not that uncommon at all, thats what they do.

"The 85's do scream, but it's not gonna beat your R. The F yes, but not the R." I have never slammed anyone on this forum however if the above statement were true then every other manufacturer would have designed and marketed a 150 4-stroke to keep up with the Honda's that would be winning every single race. Sorry - It just doesn't happen that way.

well im just guessin the hours here...it dont have an hour meter on it. And actally the reason companys havent been marketing a 150 for them selves is because how in the world they gonna fit there DOHC in a motor that size? They cant the UNI cam is a patented idea and they cant use that in there bikes...

---------- Post added at 09:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:30 AM ---------- I agree, you need to keep up on the oil changes. Also, pretty hard to tell what kinda life the bike had before you got it. It could have been rode hard. People say all kinds of stuff to sell a bike. Never raced, never been in 5th gear, oil changed after 2 hours bla bla bla you know what I mean? |

the exhaust valves are the ones that get screwed due to them running so hot. intakes get a nice blast of fuel to cool them off. the only time an exhaust valve cools off is when its in contact with the seat (yes, some gets transfered through the stem etc). you usually burn valves because they arent fully seated when you're at tdc. depending on what the factory adjusted valves to, its always good to readjust them to spec after a set amount of time. this will ensure you have proper clearances that 1)allow the valves to fully seat and 2)not have excess play that can cause damage you have valve stem seals, and oil control rings to prevent oil from entering the combustion chamber. |

aside from what everyone else is saying do yourself a favor get rid of the crf 150 and get a kx 100. They will eat up a 150 all day. I dont care if its the r or the f the kx is cheaper and more reliable.

Actally just so you know i used to own an 2002 kx 100. And no there not as fast as my 150r. Me and my bud (skills r on the same level) well me and him raced up my road which is about a mile a dead straight, his bike is modded and mine is bone stock and i beat him, he was tacked in 6th gear. Both bikes was in great running condition i dont care what Hp there making a four stroke has got more compression and a cam pullin the bike making it have tons of bottom end and these bikes will rev to the moon, so i dont care which ones faster i want bottom end thats y i got this bike in the first place, and ur going to tell me if one of u guys raced a pro rider and u was ridin a 2 smoker and he was ridin my thumper ur gonna beat him? No its not happen, the most focused, trainned, and healthy rider is going to win. So im sorry but this thread was not to dis my bike or 4 or 2 strokes in general.

your both wrong, they pull about the same ponies. the difference would be in track conditions. If a little dude can keep the crf on the rev it will pull better. If on the yz its way quicker to top speed. The yz is a on the pipe bike that pulls the rider wearing him or her out. The crf is a tractor that flows with usable power...traction. I change my oil under 4 hours max..yamalube for me.

just smile you can ride. Change your oil more often and try and stay outt of major revs.........shift sooner. Thank mom and dad they let you ride and learn more about your bike maintence. Any bike is a good bike if taken care of. If you loose another top end check into copper seats....go to ebay and do a search for crf 150r and look under engine parts or valve seats..There is a guy who offers complete long lasting valve guides and seats.(regrinds angels and all) Hope this helps ya.
