Default Top Triple clamps

Hello.

I've got a 2004 kx250f and with the stock top triple clamp with the removeable bar mounts with a rubber bushing on the underside.

It moves out of place easily when i crash, and it isn't firm at all. If i put my weight onto the bars hard i can feel movement, its pretty annoying and takes away from a nice firm feel that i want the bike to have in that area.

Is this a pretty common issue, i can't imagine it not annoying other riders with the stock setup?

What are some good aftermarket top triple clamps and bar mounts that don't have the rubber bushing? Something really solid.

If any of you guys have had this problem and found results with an aftermarket clamp tell me what you ended up choosing.

Would it be possible to buy some aftermarket bar mounts that don't use the rubber bushing on the existing clamp?

Thanks alot guys.

My suggestion is to keep em, and make sure your triple clamp bolts (the ones that attach to the forks) are torqued to spec as well as the rubber mounted ones are as well.

Then I would consider getting a dog bone for the top -- that's the ones that connect both sides together.

If that isn't suitable, rg3 makes some sweet ones for 2 arms and 1 leg -- otherwise, my choice would be the pro-taper rubber mounted top clamp.

Thanks mate.

After a bit more research i discovered the rubber setup seems to be pretty desirable. It must just be the bushings in mine are buggered. I might just buy some new mounts and as you said, get the connecting dogbone top piece to stabilise it all as much as possible.

I had the same problem and I got the Pro Taper upper clamp and it has never happened again. If I remember right they were only $150 or so.

Wow I was just thinking about this last night since protaper doesn't make the accutrax top triple for my bike an 03 YZ 125. I looked at Pro-Circuit mounts but their prices are ridiculous for the weekend warrior like me. I think I am going to go with the Applied upper for now which runs at $140 for me, then I can always go with the applied bottom and stem later for the full setup since I dont have $300 to drop right now.
