04 four strokes??

i was wondering how reliable an 04 YZ250F is... i heard that they break down also.. i just wanna kno so i can decide what bike i should get

They are most reliable competition 250cc 4-stroke available.

You narrowed it down to YZF and CRF. The CRF has been known to require engine checks more often.

I am ridin an 04 NO problems at all. The only reason this thing has cost me money is me crashing it, because it is runnin so well. The 04 is an ausome bike, all my friends have them. Do not know anyone who has had any problems out of them.

thanks!! my dad says once i prove to him that i can keep my job he mite buy me a bike and ive found a nice 04 YZ250F and i like it.. it has lots of extras but a friend told me that they still brake down every year or so.. now i know from the owners!!

The YZ250F is very reliable if you keep up on maintenance

1. Clean Air filter every ride
2. Change the oil every 5-10 hours of use
3. Change the oil filter every other oil change
4. Keep valves clearance in spec.

The new four strokes are only as reliable as you maintenance schedule.

5. If valve clearance requires shims 2-3 sizes smaller replace valve train.
6. Clean oil screen.
7. Replace cam chain/tensioner.
8. Replace piston rings; replace piston with every other ring swap.
9. Replace crank, especially if you like to bounce it off the rev limiter.

i said its probably time for the crank and valves to go out which will cost a lot of money to fix so thats why i think u should get a 05

i dont care.. its not that big of a deal. lots of them have motor work so they are gonna need it every once in a while newayz
