Default Vertex piston question

Does anyone know if Vertex piston rings are interchangeable with stock piston rings, or in other words can I put a factory ring on a Vertex piston? :

Yep, I am pretty certain you can.

Just wondering, how come you chose the OEM rings over Vertex rings?

Thanks for the speedy reply! I didn't choose the oem ring, but I have the Vertex piston in my bike right now and I just tore down the top end last night. The piston looked to be in surprsisingly good shape. I was thinking maybe I would just replace the ring for now instead of the complete piston assembly. That being the case if the oem ring will fit I can just pick it up at my local dealer ( I bought the piston on ebay).

Mic. the piston to insure it's not tapered on the bottom. That is the usual place they wear. If it is they can tear up the cylinder by wobbling back and forth.

I just read your thread and I wouldn't mix the rings with different pistons, keep a vertex ring for a vertex piston and anoem ring for a oem piston. Just wondering but whats wrong with the oem piston and ring? I've been using them for three years now with no problems at all.....

Slip the stock ring on and check for clearance (your manual should tell you) if there is some baked on oil clean it off with something that will not scratch it. Next, make sure that the pin cutouts are a match. Vertex may even tell you if they will or wont. If they say yes, you can bet on it. If they say no, you can go on checking.
