V Force Reeds or Boyesen Reeds Hey i was wondering which to get, VForce reeds or boyesen reeds. Which is better? And why? Also i heard you have to rejet your carb, if you install new vforce reeds. Is this true? And is there any directions that tells you how to do it and what to do?

Edit, thought you said reed valve. Just go by the manufactures recommendations on the reeds, and I don't think you can go wrong with either brand myself. Last edited by 2kHondaCR500R; 06-29-2004 at 08:06 PM.

Im partial to Boyesen and have used them with great results for the last 20+ years on all of my bikes. The VForce are probably just as good. I wouldnt touch your jetting if your bike is running good now. Put the new reeds in and see how it runs. There are lots of variables when it comes to jetting. If you find that after installing new reeds that your bike is off a little, then play with the jetting. Good luck.

personaly i choose v-force. I have tried both on my 125 and the v-force not only helped more (ever where) over the boyesen but it lasted until i sold it. The boyesen craped out maybe 5 months after i got it, so replaced it with a delta. Go Mototassinari!

Okay thanks vforce 3 reed valves it is!!!!! But i found this at the boyesen web site. Each Boyesen RAD Valve is unique - tailor made to that model, year and displacement. While other aftermarket valves might change flange sizes or bolt patterns, they're basically generic - and require you to irreversibly cut your intake boot to install it! But with the RAD Valve, there are no compromises in power, no modifications. So does this mean i have to cut my V Force reeds when i get them??

no you don't have to the reeds. What that is saying is that the reeds that you get for your bike are the same dimensions as those that may go into other bikes where as Boyesen claim to be slightly different and made exact for each specific model.

V-Force Is what I run, took me a little while to get the jetting perfect but its worth it in the end. Nothing against boysens, they make some great products. P4L

Why are the boysene instructions so much easier than the Vforce reed installation instructions. The boysene is take out the stock and put the new in. The vforce is cut plastic off with a saw and keep stock valve in there then put the vforce in there?????????????Damn

Dude, I have the Rad Valve on my bike that I put on, and no, I didnt and havent had to touch my jetting, and yes it works great with a very nice difference in power delivery (they also pit the Boyesen against the VForce on the dyno and guess who is on top?). This is my experience talking not my opinion, do with it as you will. I too didnt like the idea of cutting my intake boot for the V Force setup and went with the Boyesen. The Boyesen is also investment cast aluminum vs. PLASTIC like the V Force. Last edited by Roostman; 06-29-2004 at 10:28 PM.

| [QUOTE]Originally posted by 2kHondaCR500R [B]Not picking apart your post so don't take this wrong, but lots of car parts and bike parts are made out of plastic. Even the stock intake on my Mustang GT is and I had no problems out of it, so how is this a bad quality to have on the bike? I also don't think trimming that intake boot is anything to be concerned about. It looks easy to me, and I'll have full details on it when mine comes.
