Is there still a class I could race my 500R in these days? I'm a rookie and the bike has sloppy suspension right now, but I'd like to run it for fun anyway. It doesn't matter to me if I come in last as long as it's fun.

You should still be able to race a 500 in an age-group class, such as 16-24, 25+, etc...

I believe mxxx is right, I'm pretty sure you can run an age class. Oh god, I am going to be able to run the 30+ next year ... yikes!!!

I rode my KX500 in the over 40 class this year. No wait, that couldn't have been me. I'm not over 40. I stopped aging many years ago at 25.

Don't worry, you won't be racing vintage on that bike. It doesn't even qualify for a Decade class yet. No one will complain if you line up in the 250 class with it. The 250's will turn faster lap times anyway. They just aren't as much fun to ride. Nothing like lining up a fresh knobby and your buddy who is behind you when you have a 500.

Alot of districts allow a 500s in the 250 classes, it would be called 250A/Open 250B/Open 250C/Open 250D/Open check out your districts website to make sure.

Since most of the racetracks in the county don't require you to donate $39 a year to the American Harley Motorcycle Association, you may not have a district to check with, so pick a track and give them a call. It's not like I don't appreciate a regressive dis-organization like the AMA..........Oh, OK, so I just read the 2005 rulebook for amatuer MX the other night and they still have a rule that requires you to have rubber coverings over the footpegs. The AMA is still confused about MX. Right turns make them dizzy.
