RM 250 bogging ?

ok guy,s/gurl,s i have a 1999 RM250 it runs great but my weight has alot to do wiht the power im 6/2 and 260 pounds the bike is a beast when im got it winded a bit its got a lot of top but how can i gain a lot lof bottom and still maintain the top i have..thanks guys

the best way for you will be to experiment with different gearing ie
if your running a standard sprocket set up ie 13 front 49 back
try a 12 on the front its cheaper than the back if you have a spare say 51 tooth try it on the back.
do this try it out and as i say experiment.
dont go down the jetting road it can make things worse.

hey thanks fer the reply i run a 12/50 and i dont wonna go any slower than that .that was the first thing i done when i got the bike im guesing a FMF fatty pipe and a shorty is next then reeds thanks

Check that the powervalve pre-tension spring is set correctly (I've got a '94 RM250 and from memory I think the factory spec is 180 degrees clockwise from zero, check your manual to be safe though). You may find that the valve is opening too early if not set to the correct tension, this would affect the power at lower revs.

yea its right its how its supost to be i just need more power i guess a pipe and reeds is the next thing thats goin on so ill see if that help

In that case I'd go for a Boyesen Rad cage and a Fatty, but fit them at the same time so that you only have to re-jet the thing once...

like others have said, i would get a fmf fatty, and i would change my gearing.

but with doing that you would lose some up top

yea im prepaired to loose some top i just need more bottom so when i ride in the moutians cause thats about all i do around here
