Hard starting, loss of power, erratic idle.

Thumbs down Re: Reeds?

Can also do motor damage (from what I understand) if a piece of the reed material breaks off, and gets sucked into the motor!

Hey lifeflight4 I just changed mine in my KTM. Noticed the outer corners starting to fray (break up). Dont know if they where affecting the way it ran but better to get to it before damage done. A read is basically a inlet valve if it has a leak you can lose compression.

hard to start...loss in engine power. When I replaced my top end I was at 109 psi. Might I suggest that you go out and buy a compression gauge. What kind of bike are you talking about??

Pull the reeds first and take a look. It's a lot simpler than doing a top end.

While your in there, check the rod for up and down movement. It's a 98 so it could be due. Good luck and let us know how u go
