Is it always true that newer is better? Well, if you compare a '02 SX125 and a '03 I guess the '03 would be the better buy. But, if the '02 has '04 plastics, V-force reeds - would that about even them out? What else changed? I guess suspension... Generally, how about the '02s. I think I heard/saw/read/imagened that they took a giant leap in '03 with everything, looks, performance and suspension - true or false?

Well?? So, they went 5spd in '03 and made wider gears instead. Guessing it means that they last longer (the gears/gearbox)

Buy the 03. Better suspension/chassis. I think the 02 had 43mm forks still. Either way, the 03 was a major redesign and a big step forward. Do you really think the 04 plastics make the 02 that much better?

2003 came with bigger hubs on both the front and rear wheels, and larger fork tubes. The 2003 tank and seat are narrower and better egromics than the 2002. I have both a 2003 250exc and 125sx

Well, I bought the '03... The '04 plastics just make it more expensive to crash.... Thanks for the input.
