Default help on a 125 with mx2t

i have a 96 yz 125 . i rebuilt the top end a month ago. i might have 3 hrs on it. when i put it back together i went with the mx2t because i heard good things about it. this week i was riding it and it just died out and wouldnt start again. so i tore it back down and the exhaust side of the piston was chewed up pretty bad i took it to the local shop and he said it was from the lack of lubrication and the oil i used was not good. i ran it 32:1 also
can anyone help on this

That's BS, MX2T is good lube. I suspect something else involved here.

Did the shop do the top end work or you?

I wouldn't dog the lube...I think the shop is just blowing smoke up your...

Very possible something went wrong with the rebuild. Not saying you don't know how to do it, just that little things can cause big problems and sometimes Murphy's Law takes over.

Yeh, sorry to hear about your misfortune.
I have had experience with something a little like what you are explaining.
The ring could of caught the bridge of the port.
Did you set the ring end gap to manufacturer's specs?
What condition is the bore in??

Just a few questions for ya!

IT IS possible that the powervalve hit the piston, but highly unlikely if the powervalve components intact. My friends screw came out of that pushrod type drive and the powervalve caught the piston. BTW if it is the powervalve it will also have some nice marks on it from the piston.

i just put out 300 dollars to redo the cyl and get the topend junk the shop said that the bore could have been to tite and seized up. the sleeve is steel and the piston was a pro lite piston. the aluminum just transfer form the piston to the sleeve. he hone it and it looks as good as new. the only damage was the piston. which was rite above the two lube hole

Putting a steel sleave in a bike designed for nikasil is a very bad idea. if this is the case the shop doesnt know what it is doing. you should send it out to eric gorr or another good shop to have it done properly.

If you don't properly warm the bike up with a prolite piston, you will cold seize it right off the bat. Did you have any seizures marks on the intake side of the piston? If so, that indicates that you didn't properly warm up the bike before high throttling it. A wiseco piston will swell faster than what the cylinder does if you don't let it warm up before taking off.

To let know, Mobil-1 makes Honda's HP 2 stroke oils which are ranked one of the best. Its the same as MX2T with dye in it.

That is BS what the dealer told you because I have heard that so many times when you don't use their products.

a nikasil aluminum cylindar is much more efficient at dissapating heat than steel. this allows the manufacturer to tune the bike to put out more power. plan on another meltdown if you put the bike back together with a new piston.
