| i have a 96 cr125. when i inspected the exhaust valve i noticed one was stuck halfway closed. i cleaned up the assembly and the valves freely moved. after i put everything back together i bump started my bike (still havent figured out why its not kick starting) then went back to the garage. i peered through the exhaust port and the valves were in the open position! they should have been closed! i took everything apart and thought to myself, when the engine is off, the valves need to be closed with the exhaust valve rod in the "lifted up" (closed valve) position. is there a spring that keeps it at the closed position and the governor is what moves it down? does someone know what keeps the rod in the "lifted up" position? it looks like i may need to take apart the rightside crankcase cover. would someone shed some light... it's pretty dark at the moment. thanks |

| I just installed a new governer on my 95 cr125. The governer is a sprocket like thing with a thing on it with groves like a screw which has a bearing inside it. This screw thing connects to the tie rod. The bottom on the tie rob connects using a level type thing and has its own screw thing wich sits with the governer. It took some fiddling to se it up. I had it set up..... Close the valves. Adjust the tie rod which is connected to the case so it fits into the groves on the governer so the tie rod is all the way up. When the engines revs high its causes the governer to spinn and lower the tie rod wich pulls the valves open. Check here part 21 and 20 [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] |

| hey leaper when the engine is off, is there any force keeping the tie rod in the "lifted up" position? does it take any force to push the tie rod down? and if you do push the tie rod down when the engine is off, does it automatically go back up if once you stop pushing down on it? |

its meant to stay up int he closed pos, because downt he bottom its connected to the governer. SO it wont spin untill the governer spins, So it wont be able to move up or down no matter what, if u can move it up and down then your governer is shot and thats what happend to me. |
