Cool could my crank seals be bad?

I got a 99 rm 250, replaced the top end with a wiseco kit, put in boyesen reeds, 152 main, 38 pilot, air screw 1.5 out, 40:1 maxima K2, fatty pipe turbine core 2, and it spooges like crazy. I checked the float heigh and it is spot on but turning the air screw does very little and I have the idle screw screwed in almost all the way (maybe thats why the air screw doesn't affect idle much) I haven't had too much experience with 2 strokes but it feels like it runs pretty well. I took it too the track and turned the best lap times, at least 15 sec faster than riding my 01 YZ426F and jumping is much easier. After riding I check the plug and it is slightly shiny but black. Should I not worry about the spooge? Could it be the crank seal and is the spooge from tranny oil? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Default Re: could my crank seals be bad?

Even when the float is set right, there is always the possibility that the needle, or seat or both are bad. A bike that age can certainly have bad seals. Even when mine don't show any signs of leakage, my rigs run crisper with new seals. 50 hours is a long time for me to run one without changing them.

I have seen machines which have a problem with the enrichening valve (choke) not being closed all the way act just like yours, and require that the idle screw be all the way in to get it to idle erratically at best. Sometimes even the wrong low speed jet will do that.

Good luck, I hope I gave you one or two things to consider.

Remember to repack the silencer's glass deadening material after you sort this problem out. With all the excess oil in the chamber and silencer the packing is soaked and useless.

Useless??!! Bill, you can light it up and warm your hands. Build a signal fire. Upset Al Gore. Useless? how come you always look at things like that, as if the glass is half empty?? Dang!!

Sorry Andy, what ever was I thinking about, especially using it to aggravate Al Bore
