common maintenance 250sx

At the end of this summer im gonna buy a 2004 or 2005 ktm 250 sx....all i need to know is what kind of standard maintenance should i be doing to keep it in perfect running condition....i.e. how often to change top end, how often to buy new air filter, change tranny fluid, brake pads(brake fluid), and anything else that needs to be done and HOW OFTEN

Change tranny fluid 4-5 rides you clean the filter not buy a new one change piston ring every 6 months piston every 12.

Get a Service Manual with your bike. Money well spent.

ktms come stock with a service manual and all the tools u need to work on them. one thing about brakes is don't buy any brakes besides the ebc for this bike. nobody jump down my throat about what brakes are better because i'm talking about this particular bike. whatever floats your boat for your bike, but for this ktm the ebc's are the only ones that last and they have the most amount of meat to them. read your service manual it has everything you need to know in there.

Clean the air filter after every ride. Lube the cables up once a month or so. Keep chain lubed as much as possible.

There aren't much for cables to lube up. no brake cables, no clutch cable, only throttle cable. you should change your hydrolic clutch oil once every six months or so. you have to use special magura mineral oil. also a gas line filter is a good idea.
