Default Clutch/Trans problems after switching from 10w-40 to transmission specific MTL 75wt.

Has anyone experinced problems after switching from a standard recommended motor oil to a transmission specific oil for a 2 stroke? I switched from 10w-40 to Maxima MTL 75wt in my son's KX65 and after riding one time his bike is hard to shift, can't find neutral while bike is running, and transmission stays engaged when bike is off and clutch is pulled all the way in. I hope to God this hasn't ruined this bike. I am thoroughly upset and would appreciate any tips on possibly getting the bike back to "normal" . Thanks

Yeah, it sounds like tranny's performance was more to your liking with the motor oil. Motor is more slippery than the gear oil and in your case sounds better. For some people motor can be too slippery. I have used Castrol 2 stroke gear oil from the start in my KX and it works great.

I've use both Bel-Ray Gearsaver 80 wt and Mobil-1 15w50 red cap and have liked both.

Someone talked me into using Motel and I hated it. It caused hard and miss shifting on my 2000 KTM 250exc as as soon as I switched back to Gearsaver it worked fine.

I've been using Bel-Ray Gearsaver for the last 6 years. It runs about the same price as Mobil-1 red cap.

mobile1 is good stuff.on the original question of switching oils and hard shifting,i would guess that the new oil you used caused the clutch material to swell.probably a clutch adjustment is all thats needed.
