The reeds on the Rad Valve block are designed to work only with the Boyesen Rad Valve and not the stock reed block. They are a set of 3 reeds stacked to make a variable reed instead of a single reed, that is what it is. If you have a stock reed block in your bike, you either need to pay about $125+ for a Rad Valve or Moto Tassinarri V Force (either of which yield better results than stock and the better of the two is debateable but still better than stock regardless of the brand), or just run replacement reeds (which Boyesen has my vote) which will still yield better results than the stockers. I run a Boyesen Rad Valve on my CR and am very happy with it, and others will post how much they like the V Force. Like I said, both are 'probably' much better than the stock unit, depending on what your looking for. Neither are magic and create ungodly power from nothing. At best, they bring out the best in the powerband you have. Last edited by Roostman; 09-08-2004 at 10:01 PM.

The Rad Valve requires it's only block, you can't run a rad valve on a stock reed block. Also, I have heard both good and bad things about the Rad Valve. I've heard they don't last very long, but i've heard the power is good. I went ahead and got the v-force reeds instead, and they make a big improvement over the stock reeds. I don't know the difference from stock reeds, but the aftermarket reeds really cleaned up the sloppy running of my bike at low rpms. I thought it was a jetting problem, but it was the reeds, and the pipe too, I got an fmf gnarly pipe which is great. LL.

Longevity isnt anything to worry about with the Boyesen, as Ive had mine in for plenty of ride time and shows no sign of wear. I just rebuilt my top end and checked it out thorougly and the reeds were in perfect shape.

Thanks for the replies Roostman and Smashinz2002. So, if I understand correctly, the Boyesen rad valve will replace the stock reed block, basically as an upgraded aftermarket reed block. Am I understanding you correctly? Hey, thanks again. You do the site a great service!

Yeah man that's right. The Rad valve comes with it's own machined reed block which, from what I understand, bolts right in with no modifications necessary. And now that I hear that someone says the rad valve is lasting a long time, I thinking maybe i should have gotten that one instead! Oh well! I should have listened to Crogg and not that other guy about the rad valve wearing out fast. But that's ok the V-force reeds work good too. I mean when you're bike is so fast you can barely hang onto it, well, that's pretty good
