Default 125's piston ring end gap?????

Hi i havent been here for a while.....I was wandering if anyone had an idea for my friend 95 rm125...??

He had this bike for 6-7 months and have at least over 80 hours on top end.. i dont know how but its still running......The power valve wasent opening for the first 5 months and we fixed that and it had tons of power compared to what it was before

Before when he got it it had around 155# compression w/ stock piston.....We had to rip it down to change a water pump seal and while we had it a part we check ring end gap and it was like .02 or something i dont rember... we put in a used wiesco piston and ring that was better and had the same compression...now 5 1/2 months after he gets it and 80+ hours on that topend it has like 145....

he checked it again and it was down to 120 and when it got warm it would loose power and make a weird noise....

My question is... what is the end gap suposed to be and where to measure it? Top or bottom of cylinder?

Thanks ALOT

Well, he just needs to buy a new piston kit. 80 hours is WAY to much especially on a 125. He will cause ALOT of damage if he runs that piston any longer.

Hmm...I don't exactly know what the specs would be on the 125...I'm sure that someone will know. I think my RM is somewhere around .18mm, but I'm not for sure. I'm just trying to remember what I measured a few months ago, but it's not absolutely coming to me.

Well we took it apart and i dont know how but EVERYTHING is like it only has an hour or 2 on it......nonthing worn, scratched, everythings in speck and absolutly no blow by..... It was amazing for that many hours on it.....The end gap is in spec., piston diameter in spec., cylinder diameter in spec., everything... I still cant get over it...

he runs reg 87 and klots most of the time at 40:1... And no big carbon spots on top of piston or anything, no blow by at all.....AMAZING...ill see if i can get pics

It has 135# compression but we dont have any idea where its leaking......oring head gasket i think b/c antifreezw was a darker color that usual...
