Thumbs down Devol Frame Guards

I bought these, but the fit is terrible on my '02 YZ426. Took them off after about 1 minute. The right hand side pushes really hard against the rear brake reservoir and one of the holes on the left side was not drilled large enough for the bolt. I sent them back to Devol as they said that perhaps they were not to spec. After contacting them, they informed me that all was normal and that it was probably due to the Yamaha manufacturing tolerance. Duh? I would have thought that they would allow for that in any after market product. What do they expect me to do - throw my bike away and get a new one for the sake of a $50 guard? Would never recomment nor buy an other of their products

Youve been a member here over a year and this is only your 3rd post? Where you been bro?

And yes I agree, I think they are a waist of time. Would really like to get a set of them made outa carbon fiber, with the new Air Tract Sytem they have out.

Interesting about the Devol frame guards. I've seen alot of riders with Devol stuff on there bikes and everybody has been more than happy with the fit and performance of their Devol accesories. I personally don't think that there are any better manufactorers of radiator guards than devol. JMHO.

I find it funny about the Devol stuff not fitting from a personal stand point I live in WA and my mine ridding bud I goto the tracks with often is a long time friend of Devol. My friend won't let devol or as he likes to say "Devo" as in devo is evo (evil) or something. He constantly comes over to are pit area trying to "sell" us his stuff and wer constantly show up with his competitors stuff aka Works connection. He claims that Devo still owe's him gas money from 1981!! I'm not braggin I know devol is cause I don't run any of his stuff never have.

Flat Land Racing radiator guards have been preferred over Devol by everyone who has compared the two, at least as far as I've ever read on here and elsewhere. I was going to get Devols for my CR, but all the comments on the Flat Land Racing guards moved them to the top of the list.

I'll be getting a set in spring myself.

I'm with blakrj on this one. I never buy any parts from Devol. I've met Ted Devol and his family. I dont really have a liking for Ted. But the rest of his family is nice I partiallly dont like Devol for how they run things. They totally blow you off if your ever at their Track Side Service trailor.

I'd never heard of those until now. Of course right now is one year after my post that you quoted.

After looking up Flat Land Racing's radiator guards I have to say that I 100% agree with you.

I'd never heard of them either, until I asked about Rad Guards on here myself and everyone who'd seen both chose the Flat Land guards.

As for the one year later part, my excuse is that the posts after yours were made within the last 24 hours so I assumed this was current. I know, I know, ***-u-me and all that.

haha thier track side support this past summer at the older timers nat's at spokane devo came well he always does. Anyways during the opening ceromonies he got on the PA trying to get people to come over to devol for suspenion work.

Well my friend who's known him for ever makes this wise crack comment about. Yea come on over bring your bike they'll push on your suspenion maybe bounce on the seat and then tell ya how you need to set the clickers etc or you should just have it revaled. I was like ya okay whatever man well I kid ya not about 20 mins later some peeps show up and bam!! that's exactly what happened!! I was rofl it was classic!

You know devol back in the mid ninties used to be the Pro - Action support for the west coast well they pulled out support cause they was revaling suspenion to devol spec's not pro - action specs thats not so bad but they wasn't telling anyone about it! Oh yea and next time your around devol bring up the subject of how awesome racetech is hehe he got in trouble with them for someting similar back in the late 80's.
