Acerbis fit and finish

I got a complete Acerbis plastic kit for the 426. When I installed the fenders and side plates I found that every piece had at least one pre-drilled hole out of place and the locations on the stock fenders that took steel bushing inserts were not the correct diameter. The rear fender lacked the cut-away for the exhaust pipe on the right side. The overall finish is not as good as the stock as far as color match and the molding seams being cleaned up.

These are all things I was able to fix myself however, I think that when I pay for a part that is made for my particular make and model motorcycle it should be correctly prepped. Granted the Acerbis pieces are cheaper than stock I would like to see some improvement in their quality control department.

Thumbs up Keep that brand in mind

Blue,
Thanks for the info I have seen the UFO stuff and I am going to keep it in mind next time we need some replacement plastic parts. the sets were Christmas gifts to John and I so I am not griping about something gifted but I hope that word gets to Acerbis. I plan to send a polite note to their customer service department to let them know. Maybe it will get through and help someone else.

I noticed that on the 03's KTM's, that Acerbis isn't their plastic provider like it has been for the last 2 years.

I think Acerbis once sold the best aftermarket plastic on the market, however in the last couple years it seems to have gotten less and less OEMish. In the past I have been very happy with their products lately I have been let down. Just my experience.

Quality as of late

I am not sure of the current ownership or corporate structure at the Acerbis company. With as many different product lines as they are in now some things are probably contracted out. It seems that most personal level company, like Acerbis has been becomes successful and looses some of the quality they had on the more intimate level whaen they were smaller. I hope that Acerbis can stop this change.
