Default Tusk wheels! Not happy!

Well it's a love hate at the moment with my new wheels on my discovery of a stripped out spoke nipple!!!! During prep for practice I was doing the usual stuff and discover this....... FUSTRATING!

Now I know this is a small detail but for less than 10 hours I would expect more from them, it's just a pain now to have to true the wheel ( it's two millimeters off...that's a lot IMO ) that takes time.... I really hope that the rest of the nipples hold up now otherwise I'm going to get stainless ones!! I'm going to email tusk about it, see what they say, I don't want to bag their product and as long as I can true the wheel tomorrow I'll be happy and thank goodness I had a replacement nipple from another wheel!

Other than that stupid front wheel the rear is perfect and true and the spokes settled nicely and I checked them often ( as with the front ).

There is a reason why tusk stuff is cheap. not sure if you are talking the threads on the nipple oof the hex. You are using a spoke wrench correct?

Yes, not new to spoke maintence-putting this down to a once off. Nipples do break even the genuine ones, if a spoke let go.... I'd be getting refunded!! RMATV came good an express shiped a new spoke set via international ( got here in two days!! ). That was after a simple complaint with receipt and order number. Noticing less and less movement in the spokes-good!

I've been racing for 20 years and have yet to break a nipple. Have broken plenty of spokes though. Atleast they stood by the product.

Steve, just curious if you've put much ride time on the wheels and are happy with them? Mine are almost a year old and no issues this far.

Char-The wheels seem fine, the rear hasn't moved and spokes tight. The front is still tight and I'm hoping I won't have to true the wheels again-that is a pain!! Personally I would vouch for tusk hubs-there are awesome, tusk rims and genuine spoke/nipple or trusted aftermarket.... But that's just me. I probably am the one customer who got one back nipple-I'm ok with that and I got a free set of spokes score!

Just a little feed back on the wheels....

I'm about 30 hours in with the tusk wheels, these have seen several races and plenty of rough tracks during practice. Coming into summer now the teams should get really chopped out!

So far so good. Wheels are within true spec. Nothing has broken and the spokes are still tight. Naturally I'm going to nip them all up again because most wheels need tweaking. Good product I'll say

Same experience for me, Steve. I have about a year on mine, still look good and the spokes rarely need tightening. The black on the rear wheel has worn a bit, about a quarter inch on the inside edge, think that's just from tire wear though.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
